Hey Linda,
I have a question for you. Just how important are first impressions at admissions networking events? I went to an event for NYU tonight and I met a nice girl at the meeting. We both were asking questions to the director of admission at NYU. I ended up telling her that I didn't have the best interaction with the admissions director at USC. She was kinda of cold and distant and said some really discouraging things. The director heard and his tone was a bit sarcastic by saying to me, "I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but the admissions directors at USC are nice and good friends of mines." I felt so dumb. I guess I was speaking too loud and he ended up not giving me his card. I wasn't trying to sound too nasty, but that was my honest opinion and I encouraged the girl to apply and visit with a completely open mind. I guess I was so happy to meet another minority female to b-school that I got a little too open too soon I feel sick thinking about it. I hope that he doesn't think that I'm a douche...I made a mistake and I have learned from it, big time!
