The answer is D. 28

I solve this way, don´t know if its the best one:

87.75 has a remainder of 0.75 or 3/4. b MUST be a multiple of the denominator of the remainder, in this case it must be a multiple of 4. The only number that is a multiple of 4 in the possible answers is the number 28. So D. 28 is the answer

Here is the quick and dirty way to solve this.

The prompt tells us that a/b = 87.75 so we know that B must be a number that could result in .75. This immediately rules out B (26), C (27), and E (30). Since they are non-terminating decimals. That leaves us with A and D. Quick way to solve is just choose one and multiple by 87.75 if the answer is an integer than its correct.

Taking A we find that it is not an integer so it must be D.
Alternatively taking D we find that 28 x 87.75 = 2457 since that is an integer it must be D.

Hope that helps.

Given a/b = 87.75.
this is 87 and 3/4 = 351/4
Since a and b are integers we know that whatever is the value of b, it must be divisible by 4 completely(to make a an integer)
from the options only D=28 is a multiple of 4 which is your answer.

IMO Option D

for the Value of b, a has to a positive integer.
a= b*87.75
=b*8775/100
Plugging in b=28 gives an integer value for a. D

If a,b are positive integers and a/b=87.75

here 87.75 = 87 + (3/4)
so a= b*87+ b*3/4
since a and be are integer. b*87 is also integer. to evaluate this exp to integer b*3/4 must be integer. so b must be divisible by 4.

here 28 is only divisible by 4

ans is 28
