a) $$3x^2-x+2$$
b) $$3x^2+1$$
c) $$3x^2$$
d) $$3x^2-1$$
e) $$3x^2-2$$

Hi, the answer I get is d
3x^2(x-2)-x+2/x-2
=3x^2(x-2)-(x-2)/x-2 by manipulating the sign of the second half of the equation we can get the common factor x-2
=(x-2)(3x^2-1)/x-2 x-2 from the num and denominator get cancelled
=3x^2-1

Here's what I'm doing...
3x^2(x-2)-x+2/x-2 same as you
=3x^2(x-2)-1(x-2)/x-2 same as you , (x-2) cancels out from num and den.
but you're left with...
= $$(3x^2-1) (x-2)$$
Doh, I just realized that the DIRECTIONS says it doesn't equal 2 so...
the solution would be 3x^2-1. So simple ...yet so easy to miss....guess it goes to show you I need to read the directions more carefully.
thanks!
