Just invited to the interview,
have to choose between 7th of June an 31st of May,

Profile:
Russian, 620, 7 years in Sales and Marketing FMCG, GPA 3,8, female, 28 y.o

shubhamb, wish you good luck with your other applications, really hope that they will be more successful

Congratulations 25340! The dates are all Tuesday, like what IMD told me, except two interview sessions in Singapore which will take place on 20th & 21st May.

So at least there are 6 interview sessions up to now ( 4 in Lausanne: May 17th, 24th, 30th & June 7th + 2 in Singapore)

Shubhamb: Good luck on the MBA road and wish you all the best!

Thanks for the wishes 25340 and menehn.
Wish you folks all the best with IMD.. !

Hi All

Congrats to all who got admitted and to all who got selected for interview.

All the best who could not make it this time.

I have a general question to all who applied to IMD, approx how much time did it take you guys to write all the essays ? (I know it depends from person to person but I just want to get a general idea).

The reason am asking this is because am retaking the GMAT on 16th May which will only leave me 2 weeks to work on the application (June 1st deadline). I applied to some schools last year so I do have some material and wont be starting from scratch. I am trying to figure out if its even doable or should I just concentrate on my next school (INSEAD Jan intake) post GMAT.

Thanks in advance

Personally it took me more than 1 month to complete my application. I had done with my GMAT on mid Feb and had my essays ready on end of March.
I did spend much more time to think about the essay content than to write/edit them. Some ideas happened to be great at the beginning then finally I decided to change them. In my opinion, the 11 essays should draw a complet and consistent picture about oneself without repitition.
So to answer to your question, I think 2 weeks are possible if you have a clear ideas about what you want to tell the adcom.
One thing that could take a lot of time is editing your essays to respect the the character limit in IMD online application. This is very annoying, for example I had to edit completely at least 3 essays for that.

I think 2 weeks is a bit tight. But if you already submitted any application to business schools and know what to write, it is possible. But I'd better recommend to prepare proper application instead of writing things in a rush. And don't forget that you need to submit 3 letters of reference, and they also take a lot of time from your recommenders.

IMD essays are short, but this does not mean that they are easy. They are to be strict and plain. No any single spare word. So, they are to be well thought and weighted. For me it took about 2 months to write them properly in 2009 (when I applied for the first time and was not admitted) and about a month this year. It takes time to send it to somebody for proofreading, to polish, to re-think etc...

Hi Everyone

Does anyone except shubhamb and 25340 waiting for R2 results here? More importantly, did anyone receive of the interview decision? Please raise your voice, I'd be relieved to know.

I had all reasons to consider this week as the last one based on the response from IMD. But these mean adcom people are getting on my last nerve :) It's Friday and I haven't got anything from them on my application.

I also had this invite today: "THE IMD MBA - 90 exceptional people who will shape the future of business".. Do they know this is not quite the best time to send this stuff out? )

RSVP!

Thanks skitalac and menehn for the responses.

Since I posted the question, I have been thinking too and I guess 2 weeks is way too tight. Now I would have to think if its worth applying in Round 4 at all .......

Damm the race against time .....

Hey guys,

I've been following this forum for a while, but posting for the first time.

I'm a Round 2 Applicant and have received an invitation to attend the assessment day.

I applied on 1st April a few minutes before the deadline and received a call last Friday - I was given the option of 2 dates - 31/5 and 7/6 - I've asked for 31/5 but yet to receive a confirmation as the adcom is not in the office today.

Profile:
30M / Indian / 760 / Undergrad India / Post-grad UK / 8 Years Work Ex mainly in the UK in Consulting and Industry, Finance-focused / ACA & CFA

Is anyone else on here likely to be in Lausanne on the 31st of May?

For the record: got my interview invite on May-10. Applied a few hours before the deadline on Apr-1.
Will get interviewed on either May-24, May-27 or Jun-10, have not yet made up my mind.

I wonder at how many invites there are, or most of the dinged people are quiet?

Hi People,

All the best to everyone participating in the Singapore Interviews.

I have been admitted to the class. Hope to see you guys there.

My 2 cents about the whole day :

1. Be yourself and know your application inside out.
2. Answer with suitable examples
for eg : What according to you is leadership? Answer it in generic way but also add (in my case I have experienced bla bla )
3. Prepare for case study discussion and be a team player and do not look to dominate
4. After the impromptu presentation , they will again look at team work by additional data about the case and will look at team's ability to come up
with a common recommendation as a TEAM.
5. Ask proper questions and look insights from the Alumni at lunch.
6. Thank the admissions committee in the end and send an email.
