Hi!

I am a R4 applicant, and have been invited to the interview day, which is scheduled for September 16.

I'd like to ask if anyone has any idea: of the applicants which are invited to the interview, what % gets the call and not the email? :)

Thanks, and good luck to all!

Hello Everyone

I just wanted to clarify whether do we need to send any documents by post to INSEAD? I believe we need to upload scanned copies of the transcripts and electronically submit the recommendations. Once an offer is made by INSEAD, then we need to send the documents by post.

Am I right?

Thank you very much!!

I've been at the assessment day on September 13th, nine people (two from China, two from Korea, one from Canada, one from Australia, one from the Netherlands, one from Taiwan and me from Ukraine), everything was really nice (I was positively shocked by how all the participants were co-operative and efficient during team work activities, adcom representatives, professor Walsh, Marine and Lucie, host students were also perfectly pleasant and bright). Still waiting for the results. :)

Sure, it is almost 100% as described previously by other guys here, except there were 9 of us (typically mentioned groups were 5-8 I guess). For me it was the following sequence (timeline is approximate):

8.00 arrival to the reception desk and small walk through the campus
9.15 35min preparation for the individual presentation
10.30 all the group making presentation one by one (5mins strictly for each presentation)
11.30 35min preparation for the group presentation
12.15 5min group presentation followed by discussion with adcom members
12.40 lunch (really excellent) with current year student
13.40 group discussion of the case, previously sent to us; led by professor Walsh (include group preparation based on the questions given by the professor and further discussion based on our answers)
16.15 1-2-1 interview

As you can see the schedule and activities almost exactly as those described by other applicants, everything was really nice and pleasant. Let me know if you have any specific questions - I'll gladly share the experience (as much as normal ethics allow). :)

How one prepares for the case that is given there impromptu ? Are these cases difficult for un experinced person in busines consulting? :)

You have 35mins that you can use for preparing slides (i suggest not more than 4 in any case - you have strict time limit to present), you can use pen, paper (available in the room) and calculator in your mobile if you need to. The cases are not that difficult and my perception is that they do not assess you as professional consultant, rather they look at how you operate during preparation, what is the logic behind your words, how you behave presenting in front of people that assess you and your presentation. Based on this I believe that even most general knowledge would be more than enough for the presentation, of course what you say must be reasonable, but nothing exceptionally deep and specific.

Btw, from what I remember most people from our group (including myself) were not from business consulting for sure - that was not a problem at all, at least as far as I could notice. :)

PS please take into account that I'm still waiting for the results and not sure what those will be - so take my experience fwiw

Thank you so much. This is great insight. How big the case was and does it include financial figures?

Also, could you share about interview ? How is it ? What is your perception ?

It looks like there is a huge competition if they invite many many people and already most of them are taken.

The case itself was 3/4 of A4 sheet of paper iirc, accompanied by the table (not large) with key financial figures, very general figures. Those can be analysed with general logic, does not require any professional background (while it can be helpful if you have that). :)

The interview in my case was very pleasant, lasted about 45mins, questions were more or less as expected regarding my background, aspirations, plans for the future, what are my weaknesses and strength, based on my application. No provocative or particularly tough things. My perception is that the interviewer is interested in seeing what kind of person you are and what is behind that nice information in the application. Again, in a very pleasant and co-operative manner, at least this was the case in my interview.

As for the competition, I cannot say for sure; but I believe most of us in the group were not direct competitors due to different origin and background. Also I believe they have their process established well enough to be able to make an offer to any candidate, invited for the assessment day, if that candidate really demonstrate what they are seeking for for the class composition. I'd suggest not to worry about the competition once you're invited, but concentrate on delivering your best during the day, including good teamwork and willingness to deliver best results both personally and as the group. :) In my case all the teammates were really co-operative and willing to help and support each other - I believe this behaviour was beneficial for all of us.
