Dear Linda:
Could you pls. tell from your vast experience the importance to visit in particular the University of Chicago Booth to be admitted? How much weight does it have in the process? Does it make a difference to be eligible between a peer with same background or orientation?
Many tks in advance and happy New Year! Lw
Lordw,
I think if you live in the Chicago area, it would be important to take the time and visit
Chicago Booth. Such a visit is a very concrete demonstration of interest. However, if you live far away, and certainly if you live out side the country, it is not "necessary" to visit, and won't be held against you if you don't.
I feel that
visiting your target MBA programs is beneficial because:
- Visiting is a concete demonstration of interest.
- Visiting gives you insight into the program that you can use to show fit in your essays and interviews.
- Visiting may give the school slightly greater confidence that you will attend if admitted.
However, as with everything else, there is a cost-benefit analysis that you have to do. Visiting
top business schools is certainly not a requirement of admission.
Best,
Linda
