Hello my friend,
you made the right choice but, in my opinion, there is also an easier solution!
Considering our empirical data, it is easy to understand that the quantity of "low quality" tea must be higher than the quantity of the "high quality" one.
Thus, the only possible choice is B, offering a ratio of 2:1

Solution



Given
In this question, we are given that
    • Two types of tea, priced at $7.50 per kg and $10.50 per kg are to be mixed

To find
We need to determine
    • In what proportion the teas should be mixed so that the resultant mixture costs $8.50 per kg

Approach and Working out
If we mix at the ratio x: y, we get
    • 7.5x + 10.5y = 8.5 (x + y)
    Or, x = 2y
    Or, x/y = 2/1

Thus, option B is the correct answer.

7.5*x + 10.5*y = 8.5*(x+y)

i.e. x = 2y

i.e. x:y = 2:1

ANswer: Option B
