Hello Vantage Point,
Here is a brief overview about my profile-
Bachelor's- Electrical Engineering Vellore Institute of Technology,India, 2011-7.7/10
Master's- Power and Energy Systems-Arizona State University, Tempe, 2013-3.3/4
GMAT-760 Q50, V42
Presently working as an electrical engineer for one of the biggest engineering consulting company in the energy sector in US. Worked with utility clients such as AEP, Duke Energy, PG&E etc.
Post MBA goal- Transition into consulting, work for power or energy groups in consulting firms.
EC- Toastmasters, ran marathons, some local community service.
Schools- Kellogg, Fuqua, Ross.

Thanks for reaching out and sharing some details of your profile! What I like about you right away is that you’ve connected your future goals with your past experience in the power/energy sector. Since management consulting is a very popular post-MBA career track, it’s important to put your own spin on it and get pretty specific about why it’s your goal and how it fits into your career ambitions in the long-run. So I’m glad to see that you’re already thinking along those lines – you’ll want to go a lot deeper in your essays
Your GMAT is quite strong so nice job there! Your GPAs from undergrad and grad school are a bit low, though, and could put Kellogg in the reach category for you, particularly in light of your competitive demographic. Not that you shouldn’t still apply, but you’ll want to hedge your bets by adding a few other programs to your list. With that said, I think that programs like Ross and Fuqua should be right down the fairway for you. Have you also considered UT Austin? It makes a lot of sense given your energy sector focus.
Your extra-curriculars seem solid although I’d love to know more about your specific involvement in toastmasters, if you run marathons as part of a team, etc. The details will be where the opportunity for differentiation lies.
