I have looked at many programs and selected the programs carefully. I am leaning towards IE for a few reasons. Columbia boosts a students NYC network very well, having been in the city for many years I wanted to expand my horizons. Although the CBS program is very "global" it is not a truly international program. I want a true international experience, I feel I will learn more by living in Madrid than I will staying in NYC. I also want to sharpen my spanish and hopefully gain additional language skills as well.
I feel the IE MBA is a good fit for me, the 13 months is great as I am turning 30 this year and want to get a quality degree in a short amount of time. I would like to work internationally post MBA and IE will open these doors more than CBS.
Columbia is an amazing school with an excellent MBA program but I feel I will get more out of the all around experience at IE and will still get a top tier degree. It has been a very difficult decision but feel good about moving forward with IE in the event I do not get admitted into INSEAD.
I hope this answers your questions, I am happy to share my experiences and opinions if needed.
