Hi, and what about LATAM?
Brazil, Chile, Argentina,...?

Thank you very much!

2 weeks + till notice for R2's :?

My guess is that the only people who need to worry about numbers are the top 3: India, US, France.
Others only need to compete on the strength of their application.

Why? Because being from an uncommon country does not help you. Only coming from a common country has an impact -- hurts you -- because admission is capped for those countries at around 10-15%.

This is not like affirmative action. This is why the AdCom will tell you that they do not have quotas (minimum) but they have caps (maximum).

This is my understanding. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong

I am INSEAD admit, and do be honest, I have seen the trend the last two INSEAD classes . I dont think that the 10% or 15% cap exists for any nationality as a defacto standard. If a candidates application and overall profile is stong, he would still make it on the merit of his application, even if his nationality has met the 10 or 15% quota.

Last year Indian admits were more than the speculated 10 or 15 % limit, and even the first round admits for my batch dont seem to follow any particular trend or seem to have a cap on nationality.

With almost 450 seats in each class, its a big class and strong applicants from any nationality should be able to make it. I think international work experience ( outside your country of work), some good leadership expereince , a strong GMAT score and the interviews play a good role in securing the coveted admit in the INSEAD admissions process; and are perhaps more important variables than your nationality. Yes INSEAD has a very diverse class but that doesnt mean that students of any other nationality have made it on account of their citizenship. Most INSEAD admits have an international work experience , and speak more than 2 languages. The class profile and work experience is quite strong

A couple of my clients have received interview calls today. Not that it is anything to be worried as most of the interview calls will come out in last two days before the deadline.

Indranilroyc, -the interview invites have indeed started coming out. I know of two people (including myself) in North America who have recieved invites in the last day and a half. I think the vast majority of invitations will come on or just before the deadline, as was the experience in RD1, though.

Hi guys!

I've been reading the whole thread for almost a week now, and haven't found anything concerning follow up letters from alumni friends. I mean, for instance, I know two INSEAD graduates, and I heard it would be a good practice to ask them to send some non-formal recommendation letters to the Adcom. Have you heard of this, and have your alumni friends actually sent such letters?

thanks!

I'm not too sure if this would really strengthen the profile significantly, as INSEAD is one of the few schools that uses two alumnis to interview you, so that would give them an unbiased opinion on your candidature and perhaps a better opinion of you as a person.

The only advantage I would have felt is if you had used them for your letter of recommendation , and that too only if you have either reported to them or worked with them in the past.

Or if you think these individuals have something unique to support or write about you that will significantly strengthen you application or support what you have written in your essays.

I think the only time I may want to use the additional references is if Im waitlisted and need some more credentials to back up my application.

So you may want to keep a few cards up your sleeve, and I pray you dont need to , but in any case even if you send these now, they will be part of your file and at the most you may come across as an enthusiastic INSEAD applicant. Dont see any harm being done.

Thats just my two cents as a fellow INSEAD applicant and admit. I am no admissions specialist for INSEAD, though. I am sure some more advice here from fellow GMATCLUB members could be useful for you and future INSEAD applicants with a similiar query.

This is correct. Unexpectedly I received an email two days ago from Anne Nigl to announce that I have been preselected for interview. This would be my first ever.

Mon0818, This is a touchy subject and I dont know how it will be considered or viewed by INSEAD. Obviously there is physical travel needed :-)

However, I would believe INSEAD may look at international experience as how culturally diverse locations have you worked or lived and probably adapted to those cultures. All three locations that you mentioned have something culturally unique (from a cuisine perspective .. definitely!!!) and if you can bring that out and how you adapted to these differences would be more valuable. SOmetimes its not just the number of countries...

This is my personal view completely...

It's tough waiting around for a response that's beyond our control at this point.
So have you guys formulated a Plan B? or C?

My Plan B is to apply to other schools instead of just one. And this time it would be the fall intake -- a lot more schools to overcome the randomness of admissions.

What's your Plan B?

Thanks Indranilroyc! Sure the cuisine impressed you!!

I posted the question because I am an applicant from Hong Kong, and I am wondering whether I'd be grouped into the Chinese pool (which certainly is one of the most significantly represented countries in the student body)...Taiwan is because I am half Taiwanese.

Personally I am fairly confident on the level/amount of international exposure, what worries me is the GMAT, I totally screwed it, but since I am working in China I just can't make my way back to resit it...

Good luck everybody!
