It is not hard to recognize these people. From the moment they open their mouth, and all you can hear about is "me,me,me,me" then the probability that he or she is arrogant is high. Business school is trying to weed out these people because we all know how much damage they would do when they get to a C-level position.

They can hide it pass business school, but not forever. By the time you are in your upper 20's. It is hard to change who you are. I don't mean it is impossible to change, but it will take some reckoning experience to change. Being humble and treat others with respect will take you a long way. Arrogant and cockiness only lead one end result. That is self-destruction.

Today I attended master class held by Ralf Boscheck, Lundin Family Professor of Economics and Business Policy and the incoming director of the MBA program at IMD. The event was hosted by BCG Moscow office. Key points, which may be interesting to you, folks:
1) 2 cases studies were super-impressive. If IMD (or any similar top tier b-school) can teach you to analyze/understand business policy issues in that manner, you are ready for prime-minister job (my 1st impression)
2) of course, there was a bit of advertising (hidden and direct, okey, after all master class was for free). IMD is concerned that they are ranked #1 in open programs but only #19 in MBA (by FT). They are eager to step change it, but no specific action plan was presented. according to them, mba rankings cannot measure the teaching component and thus rely on various indirect measures, which are not in IMD favor.
3) IMD positions itself as a top-notch exclusive institution. Their mistake was that they participated in various mba fair alongside with "swansea university, IE and other commodity programs". They are going to change it.
4) I also managed to talk to BCG recruiting manager on recruiting in INSEAD. If there are sufficient number of Russians in Singy in P4P5 they send their recruiting team to Singy. There is a special day, when all BCG office conduct interviews for their respective locations. So, no worries. There is way to get hired to eastern europe from Singy!

Compare BCG to Mckinsey, BCG has a more relax working environment and culture. Did they indicate how many Russian they hire from Singy campus every year ?

no they didn't. but in any case and campus one cannot draw a reliable conclusion. there are about 10-15 russians, 3-5 ukrainians. assuming 30% going into consulting, means 3-6 people go to MC in Russia/Ukraine per intake. So BCG "fair share" would be 1-2.

ducceus is right...such people are bound to get exposed sooner or later...but then again they will find ''others'' of the same kind n form their own cohorts

This is like a guy with a time bomb trap to his chest hugging another guy with a time bomb tap to his chest. I would love to see this happen, and be the catalyst for the tie bomb to go off before they all reach C-suite

Let's think positive here, and make a of what we going to do once we get admitted. Here is mine, but not in any particular order

1. Apply for scholarships
2. Apply for Loans
3. Winding down investment accounts for school expenses
4. Sign up for the Wall Street Journal
5. Complete the Goldman Sachs's Employee Book list
6. Learn how to built Financial Model for investment banker (trading comp, precedent transaction, DCF, LBO)
7. Learn French, at least the basic
8. Make Facebook group to connect with future classmates.
9. Revamp resume to focus on investment bank
10. Travel a bit before school start.
