what is the importance of interviews in INSEAD admissions process? does one so-so interview keeps you out? i believe my 2nd interview didn't go well, but who knows....hope it won't kill my chances.

Here's my quote on this subject which i posted weeks ago:

"Good Luck with your interviews..
just a quick thought: definitely interviews are important, but i know cases where candidates messed during one of the interviews and got admitted, and other cases where they did great in their interviews and got waitlisted.
... sure it's all about Diversity, but also i think that prior to the interview, your destiny is almost decided, and the interview is just to reconfirm the decision, your personality and fit!

Bottomline, even if u mess with an interview, u might get a chance... and even if u do well, u might get waitlisted! again, it depends on who's competing with you, considering that diversity is: Gender, Nationality, Educational and Professional background."

I suppose most of you must had had your interviews by now but I am still awaiting interviewers details from adcom. I called them last week and they told they will mail me the details once they finalize interviewers. Not sure whether I should call them again next week if I do not get anything by tomorrow. Is there anybody else as well awaiting details from adcom though I suspect not ?

You better call them up asap. All interviews for R2 need to be complete latest by Feb 15 i think.

If R2 decisions are to be rendered by 25-Feb, you need to give them atleast a week's time to mull over the interview feedback for the pool. This is not calculus.

I received information that interview reports had to be delivered "mid-february"... so I'd say Feb 15 is ok...

Hi,
I'm Tunisian (Engineer, GMAT: 710, 31 y) and I live in France. I've just finished my interviews. Now i'm concerned about the financing (if i'm admitted of course). Does anyone know how to increase his chances to get the more financial support possible? I need to know all the tips to apply to the right scholarships. thanks

Well... the scholarship deadline is tomorrow (11th Feb) so my best advice is to register on the scholarship site at INSEAD, identify scholarships and try complete a coherent essay by tomorrow evening.

What about Spaniards?

Thank you.

By the way, today is the day we receive the Christmas presents in Spain.

What a wonderful gift would be to receive the "pre-selected" email! Are you hearing INSEAD? C'mon ;)

A suggestion: the Gmatclub emails should change their subject. When I read INSEAD my heart shrinks almost every time.

Spain: 2

Good luck!

Hey any idea on what the count of Middle East (Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Egypt) admits?

Thanks

I'm Tunisian, and i just finished the interviews. I don't know about the other people from Middle East. Where are you from and what about scholarships? have you heard about a scholarship proposed by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Fellows (Scholarships for Arab students at international universities), do you know if it's still valid?

Thanks,

Guys, I finished my second interview yesterday. It was with a very senior guy who has held many positions in a UN body. Standard interview questions (why mba ? why insead etc) + POV on current issues (Egypt etc) + situational questions (what will you do some typical team settings).

Any ideas what % of people interviewed get final invites.

I had my second of 2 interviews today. Feels good to have it out of my hands! I've heard that INSEAD accepts slightly more than 50% of the interviewees

Finished my interviews and just relieved at this point, is there sth like application fatigue? First and second interviews were like night and day. 1st: Straight forward, conversational, no curveballs.

2nd was tough as a seasoned alumni grilled me on past experience and weaknesses. Further discussions on knowledge of specific sector, trends and how firms are positioned. Caught wrong footed with unexpected question on the debt in Greece/Ireland and implication on the euro.

Finished my second interview today. A relief to complete the entire process now. It's been an extremely long haul from the time I started studying for the GMAT till today. However, regardless of the final admissions decision, it has been an extremely enlightening and enriching process. Without this application process, I would never have put so much thought into my own career or spent days on introspection.

First interview was a bit strange. My interviewer had laryngitis so it put a twist to the entire interview. I had to do ALL the talking and every now and then he whispered a question :). My throat was completely dry by the end. He caught me off-guard by really grilling me on my entrepreneurial aspirations. I had mentioned this as a long term goal and frankly, I didn't really have a business plan. However, he wanted to know my target market, how much funding I would be looking for, how I would market the products and services, etc. I came out of the interview feeling I could have done better.

Second interview was 2 hours long! It went really well. Very conversational and although tough questions were asked, the interviewer seemed more curious as to my thoughts rather than trying to catch me out. He asked me about child labour in India (how I would go about solving this problem), ways to stem population growth in the world and the effects it would have on emerging market economies, what I thought about austerity measures in Spain and Greece, did I agree with the increase in retirement age in France and if I thought NGO's were doing a good job in Sri Lanka. It seemed as if we just kept talking about world affairs but during the conversation he also managed to get me to answer the general questions (why INSEAD? how will you contribute? which campus? why?). He didnt only ask me the questions but also told me his thoughts after I answered. At the end, he walked me out of his office right down to the end of the street so that was also nice of him. If I do get into INSEAD, I hope I'll be studying with people like him because I learnt a lot during my interview.

Now the wait starts....2 weeks to go! Good luck to everyone.

Does anyone have any clue about when we should start hearing on if we have an admit/wl/or ding?
Seems like another week to go waiting for sure.
