| FROM Insead Admissions Blog: INSEAD First Impressions: Entrepreneurship, Diversity, and Fun |
![]() Well! After a restful visit to the United Kingdom (my first time!), I’m in Singapore, filling out forms and registering for classes. What an intense few days! Besides the non-stop networking, free-flow of coffee and beer, and soon-to-come crushing academic demands, I’m holding up well. Still quite jet-lagged though. Few initial observations: -INSEAD is truly diverse. Working with so many people with unique backgrounds from all over the world challenges you in different ways. You need to have an extremely open mind. Meeting Brazilians, French, Germans, Indians, Singaporeans, and Koreans all in the same room over chicken skewers and Tiger beers is a first for me. You will be pushed outside your comfort zone. -INSEAD is social. It’s all about building relationships and there certainly are numerous opportunities to connect and exchange. My email account has been blasted with invitations to clubs, socials, parties, and get-togethers just in the first day. Now that I’m on the inside and I have a clearer idea about the program, I can see how INSEAD will really help me accomplish my long-term goals. First, a bit about myself- I know I’m an entrepreneur at heart. I enjoy building ideas and companies with people I love. However, over the last few years, I have struggled to generate the momentum I wanted with my new business ventures. I have three primary goals at INSEAD. From an entrepreneurship-MBA standpoint, I want to move beyond my vague understandings of how to structure new ventures and develop a clear, more methodical approach to creating new businesses. INSEAD has tons of entrepreneurship resources, so I’m really excited about that. In terms of supply-chain operations and international trade (my background), I want to learn more about sophisticated supply chain models. INSEAD offers some really strong elective courses, so I am looking forward to taking advantage of those courses in P3/P4. I want to swing back-and-forth between the corporate world and the start-up world, so that I’m not over-leveraged in terms of risk. Finally, I want to use these experiences as an opportunity to cultivate new relationships with potential co-founders. So far, there are lots of interesting people to meet. |
| FROM Insead Admissions Blog: The beginning – for a partner. |
![]() A week hasn’t even passed yet, and it already feels like a month. Settling down. The house. The meetings to attend. New people. Knowing where you can buy stuff. Not too sure what to do, but at the same time having so much ahead. To make sure I keep myself sane, I will make sure I have a routine. Practice sports (not the gym, but runs in the forest – this landscape is really nice, and the cold is perfectly fine to stand), clean the house and work on a photography book – which is my plan for this year. YouTube has been my best friend. Not only to iron shirts, for example, but to learn how to actually work with photography. Besides, lunches, breakfasts and dinners are always being arranged to make sure partners are not too alone and actually have a great time while here. So far, so good! |
