The question asks if 4z > -6.
Or, if z> -3/2.
Or, if z > -1.5.

Statement-1 states that z < 7.
Or z can be any indefinite value like 6,4,3 etc.
Hence Insufficient.

Cancel AD. Keep BCE.

Statement-2 states that z > -1
Or, hence z>-1.5
Hence Sufficient.

Cancel CE. Right Option Is B.

Quick question: When testing Statement 2 (z > -1.5), wouldn't this fail for values like -1.2, -1.3, -1.4 which are z > -1 and > -1.5?

Just had a second look at my question: clearly -1.2, -1.3, -1.4 are smaller than -1.5 and not bigger than -1. It's just very tricky to see at first glance. Hence my follow up question when solving these types of questions, would drawing a simple number line help see such a trick clearly? What is an effective way to not get tricked by such a question? (Any tips are welcome). Thank you!

What if Z is 0?

Simplifying the equation or, in this case, the inequality written in the question is always a great way to start off.

Here's an explanation of this question on YouTube
