Hi wardalaknaoui1,

Since you are not sure of the accuracy of your current mock test, I would advise you to take more mocks to determine if these scores are representative of your current standing or no. GMAT Prep mocks are the closest to the actual test. Alternatively, you can take ability quizzes in Scholaranium (rated higher than GMAT Prep mocks on GMAT Club) embedded in our Free Trial to assess your scores. Taking multiple mocks will help you understand the situation better.

Hi wardalaknaoui1,

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. Since that algorithm is proprietary, no GMAT company has an exact match for it, thus CAT scores can vary a bit based on the 'biases' involved in their respective designs. The most realistic CATs available are the 6 from GMAC (the 2 free CATs, and each of the 2 that come with Exam Pack 1 and Exam Pack 2), but there are a variety of 3rd-party CATs that are ''close enough' to the real thing that they will provide you with a relatively realistic score assessment (assuming that you use the CAT correctly).

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi wardalaknaoui1,

You may consider taking an official MBA.com exam to see how your score compares to that of your most recent practice test. Once you take another exam, feel free to report back here, and I’d be happy to provide some further advice.

You also may find my article about [=https://blog.targettestprep.com/taking-gmat-practice-tests/] taking GMAT practice tests [/url] helpful.

Hi wardalaknaoui1,

I'd like to know a bit more about your prior studies and results:

1) On what date did you take the official GMAT? What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores (not the percentiles) for that result (the 480)?
2) Since you're not planning to apply to School until next Spring, do you have the flexibility to push back your Test Date if needed?

If you truly have not taken any of the Official practice CATs yet, then it would be a good idea to take one; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). That score will give us a good sense of your current strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.
