Is x a positive integer?
(1) \((x+2)(x-\frac{1}{2})=0\)
(2) \(x(x-1)=6\)
(1) \((x+2)(x-\frac{1}{2})=0\)
(2) \(x(x-1)=6\)

Question: Is x a positive Integer?
Notice two terms here Positive and Integer
Statement 1: \((x+2)(x-\frac{1}{2})=0\)
i.e. x = -2 i.e. x is NOT positive but integer (NO)
or x = 1/2 i.e. x is positive but NOT an integer (NO)
Answer to the question is a consistent NO using this statement hence
SUFFICIENT
STatement 2:\(x(x-1)=6\)
i.e. x = 3 (YES to question) or
x = -2 (NO to the question) hence Inconsistent answer therefore
NOT SUFFICIENT
Answer: Option A

St. 1:
(x+2)(x-1/2) = 0
x = -2 or x = 1/2
=> St. 1 is sufficient
St. 2:
x(x-1) = 6
=> x^2 - x - 6 = 0
=> x^2 -3x + 2x - 6 = 0
=> x(x-3) + 2(x-3) = 0
=> (x+2)(x-3) = 0
=> x = 3 or x = -2
=> St. 2 is insufficient
Answer: A
