Is |x| > |y| ?

(1) x - y > 0
add Y on both sides
X > Y, which means positive X is Greater than positive Y,
but what about negative values ?
if we reverse signs the greater than sign will also change.
-X < -Y
(Insufficient)

(2) y > 0
No Information regarding X (Insufficient)

1&2 together : X>Y, And Y > 0 so X is Definitely greater than Y. (sufficient)

Is |x| > |y| ?

(1) x - y > 0
(2) y > 0

New Question !!

Question: Is |x| > |y| ?

Statement 1: x - y > 0

i.e. x > y
Case 1: x = 2 y = 1, |x| > |y|
Case 2: x = 2 y = -3, |x| < |y|

NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: y > 0

No information about x to compare with y hence

NOT SUFFICIENT

Combining the statements

SInce y>0 and x > y

i.e. Both x and y are positive and on number line x is to the right of y because x > y
i.e. |x| > |y|

SUFFICIENT
