Hi,

Recently I gave the GMAT FE and scored 655 (got nervous and couldn't manage the time properly). I have decent GPA of 8.42 from IIT Madras in Chemical Engineering, along with good PoRs (spons & PR/ Corporate relations) in college fests. I have 3 years of work experience in the Leadership development program of Vedanta Limited majorly working in R&D Department (Co-inventor for one patent, 1 promotion) and short 3 month marketing team stint in the beganing. I have 85% in my XII. So, I wanted to know what are my chances for ISB admit with the current GMAT score or should I re-attempt? Kindly suggest.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

Thank you for the suggestion, I gave the reattempt and scored 685 FE.

Dear Shubhp103,

Firstly, congratulations on achieving a score of 655 on the GMAT Focus Edition, especially considering your assessment of it as a less-than-ideal attempt. To determine whether you should retake the GMAT, reflect on your mock test scores. If your mock scores are significantly higher than 655, there may be a case for a re-attempt. However, since your score is already close to the average for candidates admitted to ISB, you might consider focusing your efforts on the application process instead. Remember, the GMAT is just one component the admissions committee evaluates.

Your chances of receiving an interview call will heavily depend on the overall strength of your profile and how effectively you present your journey. It's crucial to demonstrate why pursuing an MBA at this stage in your career is essential and how the ISB PGP aligns with your short-term and long-term career goals.

At first glance, your academic background from IIT Madras, combined with your work experience—including being a co-inventor on a patent —are strong indicators of a solid profile. These elements significantly enhance your application. To provide more tailored insights, we need a deeper understanding of your career goals and current work profile. We look forward to discussing your profile in detail and brainstorming effective strategies to present it compellingly, highlighting how ISB PGP can help you achieve your aspirations.

At Team FLY, we are a collective of ISB alumni dedicated to supporting prospective candidates with profile positioning, essay critiques, and interview preparations.Feel free to book a 15-minute free session for a detailed discussion with us: https://calendly.com/reachusfly/15min
