Hi,

so the primary concern you have is of how to focus.
Whenever I have taken the test, I have entered the exam thinking that I have to make it. How did I do this? I imagine that the business I am running that feeds me, my family and those who are employed under me, is running into a loss and will be shut down soon, unless I get someone to massively invest into it. The only way that I can salvage my business is my acing the test, this way-I make it a primal instinct for myself to focus.
I also swear a lot during the test, but softly(not to disturb anybody). Usually when we are faced with difficult questions we freeze and then waste time. To get myself out of the frozen state I start swearing, it propels me into action.

I have a similar background like yours, I too am quite poor with math. https://gmatclub.com/forum/don-t-fear-t ... l#p1822579 You can read my story here, it may offer some sort of help. There are some nice tips on focusing on CR/RC too.

just skip to the verbal bit: https://gmatclub.com/forum/how-to-buy-g ... 36174.html

Hope it helps.

Hi, everyone. Same issue here. I've somewhat mastered all the concepts. I continually answer correctly almost every verbal question from OG. But when it comes to CAT's I may score in the first one 700-720 and 580 next day. Then I check for mistakes. They are such a dissapointment. 80% is because of attention issues. Missed a keyword in CR, or a negative sign in Quant or something like that. I am virtually out of questions but still I can't break the wall of a confident 700 score. Have no idea what to do. My tutors tell me that I should easily score 720, but still I can't reach even 700 in actual exam where I scored 590 last time.

Hi himani2093,

To start, you will likely receive more of a response if you start your own post-thread (instead of piggy-backing on this thread, which is 2 years old). In that new thread, before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals. For example:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi himanie2093,

I’m happy to provide some further advice but would also like to know more about your situation with the GMAT. Once you respond to the questions already asked, I can provide some specific advice.

In the meantime you may find it helpful to read this article about Improving Your Accuracy on the GMAT.
