Guys, one really stupid question! for the ivey interview, they give a link right? in that you have ti put in zoom... suppose I only have my work laptop with me, which only allows my work domain to be signed into zoom, should I provide that email ID for my zoom interview?

Posted from my mobile device

In my case, the interview is going to be through Skype, so don't worry about it. Wait for the link and instructions and then you'll see how to cope with it :)

Was a Skype link for me as well. And honestly, you can quickly google the work around the work domain access. Tonnes of VPN's out there to help you circumvent that. Wouldn't stress to much there. You could use the Skype online link as well which shouldn't clash with your official ID.

Cheers.

Hi Such8,

I personally think it shouldn't be a problem. However, another way to do this could be through the mobile app on your phone. You can create a login on zoom app using your personal email address and use that. I also feel taking the call on phone is move more convenient too. Good luck!

Cheers!

Personal Opinion here: I wouldn't use the mobile app for the interview at all. I'd rather sit down, in a well lit room, settle down and have the conversation. Looks way more professional as well.

Cheers.

Hi Everyone,

I finally received the Email about the school inviting me for an interview (A little relieved now)
How soon after that can we expect to receive the link to book our interview time slots?

I have gone through the interview debriefs and their soundcloud podcast. Any other recommendation?
From whatever I have read, interview is one of the most important aspect of their process and it can be a make or a break for a lot of candidates.

Hey Zoltrex!

There are a bunch of places to help you with this apart from the debriefs and Soundcloud recordings:
- Some videos on YouTube around the process
- Debriefs on a few other websites outside of GMATClub

Broadly though - Focus on yourself, your behavioral traits, leadership skills, interpersonal communication skills, your stories, and journey in your career thus far. Make sure you focus on the below:
1) Your leadership experiences (Not managerial, but impactful - societal or professional)
2) Your learnability and how that can come across well.
3) Why MBA has to be crystal clear. And more importantly, Why Ivey. (Cannot be the generic usual Case Study, #1, Oldest MBA blah blah. Its got to be why Ivey and your marriage makes sense)

Hope this helps. Do DM me if incase you have any specific queries.

Hello Everyone !

My name is Stuti and I have received an interview invite.
Originally from India, live and work in Kuwait in one of the top consulting firms of the region.
I had submitted my application on 20th July and received an invite to Interview few hrs later. Still have not received any email from the Career Management Team for the slot booking. I am yet to appear for GRE.

I am a Finance Analyst(MIS) with 3 yrs of work ex and GPA was 2.8/4 with double majors (BBA).

Wouldn't worry too much if I was you. Do ensure you're checking your Spam and "All Mail" as well. They would get back to you here. Remember they're dealing with a huge volume of applications right now, and hence the slight delay here.

Thank you so much Prikh!

Although I'm not counting on it so much, I will do my best prep and leave the rest upto god.
As my GPA is not good and I had appeared for GMAT with a score of 580, I decided to shift to GRE as I found the Quant a little easier.. Hence I don't have a very strong profile from the GPA or the standard score side :/

Ivey DOES NOT reject anyone basis the GMAT. That is just one of the data points, amongst many many others. If you could stress upon and focus on your experiences, learning and goals - And make sure that that conversation is impactful, I think you should be fine.

GMAT is a cosmetic data point - Your interpersonal skills, Emotional Intelligence and your journey so far is what they would want to know more about.

Hey everyone,

Finally after a long wait, I got an offer from Ivey today with some scholarship. I was interviewed on 26th June. Admissions committee did not meet with vacation schedules, hence, the delay in making decision.

Thanks everyone for all your contributions on this group as it played a big role in my application success. And, best wishes to those who are still in the process.

Congratulations Ayush!

Glad to hear that the forum was helpful :) Looking forward to catching up on the Slack group and eventually in person in London!

Cheers.

Hey Russthemann!

Largely Ivey is a no-no for less than 2 years of experience and 10 years and above. Having said that, I've known people who've gotten a "Wouldn't recommend" or "Not a right fit" email with folks in the right experience range as well.

But then again, that is subjective and basis only your resume. A lot of the interaction with the Ad-Com, application, GMAT and the interview itself could completely change the dynamics here. In my conversation with the Ad-Com after the initial review, they were very candid and specific to my resume and experience. So they wouldn't respond with a positive response on a blanket level.

Hope this helps.

Hey Russthemann
You do have a unique profile and this should stand you in good stead. However if you are keen to have your profile assessed then would suggest you use the profile assessment feature on the Ivey website. Using this would ensure you get accurate feedback from official sources.

Cheers & good luck

Russthemann
Hey team,

Just looking for a profile review as I'll be submitting my application sometime this week but would like your thoughts as well!

Profile Overview:
Canadian, 25 y/o, Undergrad GPA 3.1 (History & Business Minor)
3.5 years of experience, work for a US-based beverage company and have been an Operations Manager managing staff across Canada (and Hawaii!) for nearly two years - now manage distributor relations and upper-level chain development.
Gmat: 670 (Q42 V40)
Extracurriculars: Varsity Athlete for my 4 years of university (rugby), rugby coach and player still.

I know my experience is lacking compared to some other applicants but am curious nonetheless.

Thanks!

Hey mate,

I did this, and they said I'd be a good fit. But how accurate are those responses? I know some programs send that to almost every single profile they see, while others are much more selective. Im sure Ivey is more diligent with their pre-assessments, but would like to hear your thoughts as well.

Hi Suraj,

Completely agreed. As far as you are settled in one place, it wouldn't matter if you use your phone or laptop. I use a stand to place my phone, and take the video call sometimes when I am facing a network issue or cannot download an app because of the domain access on my laptop.
But I understand what you mean.

Also, I really appreciate what you've been doing on this forum, answering each individual query personally. Its very kind of you to invest your time here. Your posts have been extremely helpful! Thank you!

Cheers!

Just by looking at the number of posts in this thread compared to previous Ivey threads, it is evident that there is a lot more interest this year!
I bet the class next year will be more competitive than ever. Though I do feel that Ivey being such a good school, has a very competitive class each year regardless of the number of applications received.

Congratulations to the ones who have been accepted and good luck to the ones (like me) who are still in the process!

Lol, I second that. It is a bit intimidating to see how the frequency of posts has increased in last 2-3 weeks. Thank you and wish you the same too!

Oh yeah, completely agree with you on the phone with a stand as well. Whatever works for you guys :) To everyone looking to interview, on a side note - If you're someone who works well with notes, the laptop is a better option. With a few pointers, you could scribble on a notepad on your screen while the conversation is going on. You cant possibly do that on a notebook (Away from the screen) or on the mobile app. But yeah, everyone will find something that works for them :)

And thanks a bunch for your words. Really appreciate it :) Glad I could be of some assistance here. Happy to help with anything under the sun.

Cheers.

Hey.

You should check with your Ad-Com spoc on the invite. Received mine back in Feb after I’d paid the 5000 CDN deposit. But because of the pandemic, people with conditional offers (GMAT based and I’m guessing deposit based as well) are on the channel.

When did you receive the admit?

Cheers.

As of now, all classes are held remotely, not just in Ivey, but in all other schools as well. Recently Queen’s started rotational in-person classes where there will be 9 students in the class with the prof, and the rest will attend the recorded session.
Canada showed some good signs and began to reopen but the recent increase in new cases has moved it back again.
