Hey Russ,
I think you have an interesting background and a good GMAT score. With your work experience, it appears that you have a strong leadership potential as well. Don't second guess yourself! (Trust me, I've been there too. haha!).
At the end of the day, what's in our control? Trying to put forward the best application that we can.
I'd recommend that you submit your application when you're 100% confident and leave the rest to the universe. If it's meant to be, it'll be.
Sendingg positive vibes your way. Good luck!
:)

Hey mate, I appreciate it. I see some of these posts and profiles and get intimated by my youth or GMAT so thanks again for the kind words.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I am 25 as well and reading about all the amazing profiles here is intimidating.
But then if I do get in, I would be in a class room full of some very intelligent peers. Good luck for your application!

I'd say go for business casual. Clothes do say a lot about you, but you also want to be able to bring your personality to the forefront. Quarantine casuals are a big NO! However, a smart button-down neatly ironed should do the trick (perhaps the guys on the forum can add relevant inputs - I'm not one but I have spent the majority of my career in 'fashion' industry, so just giving my two cents basis professional experience)

More than anything, make sure your background isn't cluttered, there are no unnecessary disturbing noises, and the lighting is good!

Just breathe, be calm, composed, and yourself. That's what I did and it helped a great deal!

Hope it helps!

A curious question for the folks who have already given their interviews.
What's the right dress code for a skype interview? You can never go wrong with a suit but is that considered an overkill for a skype call?

Like prikh said, checking your surroundings is really important. Hide your dog, close all doors, put away the pile of laundry behind you and silence the grandfather clock. Haha! Making sure that you have no excessive sounds or visual distractions while checking the microphone and camera will give you that added confidence.
About clothing, I worked in the largest fashion e-commerce in India and consider myself a self-proclaimed consultant for my friends. ??
And I would agree with Prikh to a large extent. Wearing a good button down shirt is definately important. I would recommend a shirt with a button-down collar. These are the most professional ones. I'd recommend a solid color. It could be a Carolina Blue or pristine white. If you drink lots of coffee, do not worry about bleaching your teeth, switch the pristine white for off-white. Also consider your background. Make sure you're not blending into the background with your shirt color. To check this, please record a short video of yourself wearing the clothes you'll be wearing for the interview. Replay the video and check it.
And yes, remember to wear the complete outfit. Do not wear lounging shorts with your shirt. You definately don't want to show off that combination if you have to stand up for any reason. Also, wearing the complete outfit will put you in the right mindset.
Keep your accessories to the minimum. If you're wearing Cufflinks or a watch, be aware of the sounds they might make when they scratch the table or laptop surface. These minor, insignificant sounds could result in major audio disruptions.
And finally, about the blazer - I would recommend wearing it. You'll be confident if you're overdressed rather than being underdressed. However, please keep in mind the room temperature. Do not wear a blazer if the room temperature is super hot. You'll sweat and look nervous to the interviewer. So, comfort is very important.

In Ivey's words, "Consider it like a job interview and dress the part."

Phew! Long long answer, but I hope you find it helpful. Good luck for the interview. :)

  for being a colour nerd! There aren’t very many people I have come across here who could be so definitive about the otherwise basic blue and white. So yay to you!

I wore proper business formals. A fandango pink dress with a pin stripe blazer in Oxford blue colour. I accessorized the look with a string of pearls.
But boy, was I nervous. The biggest challenge is not dressing well. The biggest challenge is making sure you complete your answer within 60 seconds. There are no do-overs and you have no opportunity to clarify your point. I am glad I could complete my answers within a minute. Phew!

Business casual should be good. If you decide to just go ahead with a dress shirt, please make sure to button up the sleeve cuffs! If you throw on a blazer, button up those sleeve cuffs still!

Gurrrllll! Your colour vocab is giving me life!
Quoting Pantone colours?! I mean ??

But my fandom aside, more than the clothes, you’ve to ensure that you finish the question asked in 60seconds. So make sure you practice a couple times. I practiced with the photo booth on for a while to check the angle and then practiced on the Kira platform. Don’t rush too much to finish. Make a mental note of spoken word count.

I did a little deep breathing exercise before both the video components (essay and interview) helped calm them nerves.

Don’t forget to be confident and yourself!

Haha!! Yay! Get it girl!

Guess we should stop hijacking the thread with our mutual fondness of colours. DM me if you want to chat/discuss further :)

Hey team,

Just looking for a profile review as I'll be submitting my application sometime this week but would like your thoughts as well!

Profile Overview:
Canadian, 25 y/o, Undergrad GPA 3.1 (History & Business Minor)
3.5 years of experience, work for a US-based beverage company and have been an Operations Manager managing staff across Canada (and Hawaii!) for nearly two years - now manage distributor relations and upper-level chain development.
Gmat: 670 (Q42 V40)
Extracurriculars: Varsity Athlete for my 4 years of university (rugby), rugby coach and player still.

I know my experience is lacking compared to some other applicants but am curious nonetheless.

Thanks!

Russthemann Hello, I not only consider your profile solid but also balanced for a Canadian MBA. Having worked with several schools in recruitment, let me tell you that schools prefer candidates like you - young, decent gpa, above-average gmat, team management experience and a sportsman.
You'll definitely get a call for an interview with all major mba programs in Canada, except Rotman, as it requires more gpa. Best of luck to you.

Hey everyone,
I just received a denial from Ivey. Honestly perplexed at why, but I'm okay. Ivey or not, I will be successful. I want to take this moment and thank everyone on this thread for all your feedback and conversations. Wishing you all the very best.
Take care!

Hey Russthemann
You do have a unique profile and this should stand you in good stead. However if you are keen to have your profile assessed then would suggest you use the profile assessment feature on the Ivey website. Using this would ensure you get accurate feedback from official sources.

Cheers & good luck

Hey mate,

I did this, and they said I'd be a good fit. But how accurate are those responses? I know some programs send that to almost every single profile they see, while others are much more selective. Im sure Ivey is more diligent with their pre-assessments, but would like to hear your thoughts as well.

Well, its kind of generic to be honest. I have seen only those candidates with work experience of less than 2 years or more than 10 years with negative response in pre-assessment. This is done intentionally as the school recommends the MSc program to candidates with less than 2 years of experience and the Executive MBA to those with more than 10 years of experience.
