agold, I dont appreciate being singled out for anything I did. I did not support jallen's actions so dont say I did. I told him his comments were inappropriate just like I told you that yours were. Its a two way street, unfortunately you started the way down that street. I did not take sides in this at all but I must admit your last post was pretty childish. Instead of whining about it in a post, why not PM praet and find out the reasoning. Even those of us in bold blue dont have the power to take away moderator privledges...at least not to my knowledge. Honestly your post wasn't the best representation of what this board is about. And by the way your ranting about this wont exactly help your cause.
Personally, you may not mean to, but your posts often come across as looking down on any school outside the top 10. Just because you wouldnt go to those schools doesnt mean there aren't tens of thousands that would. You may say it in a half joking manner but there are lots of people who come here interested in those schools who dont know that you are "kidding." As a moderator like it or not your opinions tend to be taken as a reflection of the board as a whole...and I could see why that would not be something desired by those running this site.
Remember on the internet people cant see body language or hear the tone of your voice so what you write reads like you are serious, so a lot of people will take it that way.
Note, I didn't have anything to do with this decision but honestly I can understand it. This isn't a ban since you are still posting, I think its more of a reflection as to whether they want to endorse your opinions...and its clear they do not. If they didn't want you to post things like you do they would have banned you but at the same time they dont want to add validity to your opinions. Personally, I never really use my moderator status so I don't see the big deal. I think Rhyme, Pelihu, and the Aau are the only people who were mods when I arrived that still have mod status. Most of the people who were mods last year are no longer mods either.
River, your post puts things in perspective and I respect your argument. But have you (not to single you out here
) or any other higher-up moderator considered informing agold (privately) before revoking his access? I'm sure he would have tried to modify his tone accordingly. One warning doesn't seem to be extravagant to me for someone who has contributed so much. Or am I missing something.
