Hi Jen. I’ve noticed that many schools tend publish industry-wise data about placements. Do you think I should go by this information or does the distribution vary greatly from batch to batch? FYI, I’m keen to continue working in manufacturing, a sector which isn’t very prominent among the top schools. Thanks, Shantanu (Bangalore)
Hi Shantanu - I always encourage candidates to look at the employment reports - they have the best stats, and then reach out to current students - either via the ambassadors or club presidents. If they don’t know they will always connect you with someone that does. This will help you get a better idea.

You can also look at MBA Specializations - https://aringo.com/mba-specializations/

Students have the opportunity to either pursue a general management program or complete a specialization as part of the MBA program. Specializations are a matter of choice, not a prerequisite, and all students receive the same MBA education regardless of whether or not they complete a specialization. Students should consider their career goals and professional development in settling on a specialization.

If you are aiming for a specific field/industry - look at programs that rank high on that field.
For example, here are the top schools for manufacturing/industry/operations: https://aringo.com/mba-industry-operati ... alization/

How can an Indian Male Engineer work on differentiating the profile? Undergrad college and grades are set in stone. So probably with work experience, ECs?

There are 6 criteria that Adcoms use to evaluate your profile - Data (GMAT/GRE/Undergrad GPA and subject selection), Work Experience, Short term and long term goals, community citizenship, extracurricular activities, and fit (cultural/personality) with the specific business school that you are applying to. So you can try to differentiate your profile on all these parameters. Ideally, this is customized, so if you need a detailed profile evaluation to understand what differentiators you already have or can create in these categories, contact us at [email protected]

I am quite new at this and not really sure about my chances at the top MBA programs. If you could give me an insight id really appreciate it I am a 27 yr old female , a medical practitioner by profession with my GPA 4 and work experience of 2.5 years. At the 10+ 2 level, I have been cleared both my medical and top engineering exams (IIT).I have singlehandedly managed more than 2 hospitals during my 2 yrs of service along with my promotion within less than 10 months of my service. I have volunteered to work in backword areas in my 2 years of service

We will require some more details to evaluate your profile:

Have you taken the GMAT/GRE?
What are your short and long-term post-MBA goals?
Do you want to apply to business schools in the US, UK, Europe or Asia?
Do you have specific business schools in mind? (requirements for each school may differ)
Are you practicing medicine and/or are involved in hospital management?

You can reach out to us for a complete profile evaluation

What do you think about this year’s US B-School application cycle? Have the volumes decreased?

No. There did not seem to be any decrease in the volume of applications for the 2022-23 cycle. Infact, some schools seem to have received a large volume of applications, especially in R1 and waitlisted a lot of good applicants who they could not accomodate in the round.
