How can an Indian Male Engineer work on differentiating the profile. Undergrad college and grades are set in stone. So probably with work experience, ECs?

Hi Jen.

I’ve noticed that many schools tend publish industry-wise data about placements. Do you think I should go by this information or does the distribution vary greatly from batch to batch? FYI, I’m keen to continue working in manufacturing, a sector which isn’t very prominent among the top schools.

Hi Shantanu - I always encourage candidates to look at the employment reports - they have the best stats, and then reach out to current students - either via the ambassadors or club presidents. If they don’t know they will always connect you with someone that does. This will help you get a better idea.

What do you think about this year’s US B-School application cycle? Have the volumes decreased?

Longlist of 9 schools, shortlist of 4 (LBS, Oxford, Imperial, Warwick).

From R1, international applications were still high and US/Domestic applications were low. We don’t know about R2 yet, but I think it is more of the same. Anyone on a wait list should remain hopeful.

What are you looking to do in manufacturing post MBA?

Ideal job would be in operations for a large-scale manufacturer with a diverse product portfolio. E.g. Thyssen Krupp, Hitachi, Kone. My current employer is a small company with a limited product range.

Look for schools that are strong in Operations, this will help you start to narrow your list - LBS’s employment report shows 6% going into MFG/Eng/Construction

Hello Mam, I have my gmat booked for 28th February. By then, Most of the Bschools will start with round 3 or 4, Would it reduce my chances of admission. I have overall experience of 5 years in mostly leadership position and currently working as a project manager. Also wanted to know if I have good chances of getting in top business school with 670+ gmat scores.
