Hi Everyone, I am an international R2 applicant. My application went under review on Dec 20th. Haven't heard anything about an interview. Any non-US applicants wanna share their bit, especially India?

Great experience in Ithaca this weekend! The staff and students were fantastic and very welcoming. We had a little snaffu with the class visit, but the team worked to alleviate the problem for the group of us quickly and reasonably. Campus was gorgeously blanketed in snow all weekend. Great, great trip.

Good luck to everyone else!

If possible, can you share your interview experience?
Sure!

My interview was scheduled for Monday morning. I was interviewed by one interviewed and the interview was scheduled to last 30 minutes. We ended up running over by about 10 minutes, but we were not really rushed to finish.

The interview was blind, so there was a sort of “walk me through your work experience and how you got there” question to start off the interview. As I discussed my career path, several smaller questions also popped up. Discuss a time when you handled a problem; have you ever mitigated an interpersonal disagreement; what has been your greatest accomplishment; what sort of position would be my “dream job.” We talked about my WE for probably 15 minutes and then we kind of switched into the Cornell part of the interview. I was asked which clubs/organizations I would want to participate in and what I would contribute to these. I was also asked to highlight what I felt was the greatest weakness of my application. I was then able to ask my interviewer some questions.

Overall it felt pretty interviewy, which came as some sort of a surprised based off of others’ experiences here, but based off of conversations with others who had interviewed with this person previously that day, they reflected my concerns. I felt very welcomed by the whole team and didn’t feel out of place or a burden at all while on campus and genuinely felt that everyone from the admissions team down to the admissions ambassadors honestly wanted to see you on campus next year.

I don’t know how much this will help everyone, but I hope it brings some resource to those who have interviews down the line. Again, good luck!

Also, if you’re looking for a hotel, stay at the Best Western University Inn. Staff was very helpful and they have a free shuttle to and from campus/collegetown/the commons. It’s maybe 2 minutes drive from campus.

Thanks for sharing your experience!!

Wait what? Johnson sent out decisions prior to the R1 decision date?

From what I saw from Round 1...

Interview invites were issued around a week or two after the aplpication went under review, but I think the R1 deadline and holiday has thrown R2's off a bit.
The 1st admit call for R1 (that was reported here) didn't come until about a week before the deadline...

I think you have the two confused here.

How long after submission does it take for the application status to read "Under Review"?
I submitted on deadline day for Rd3 (Jan 25th) and mine still says "Submitted".

That's what fluxuates. From what I saw it's just kind of when they get to it. Be patient is the best I can say. February will be busy finishing up R2. I'd expect R3 to kick into full swing late Feb to early March.

pitpit is correct. The first call came out about a week and a half prior to the decision release date. A Consortium applicant was the lucky person who received the first call. The continued to make calls until midday on Dec. 20th, the published decision release date.

A quick question.

No alums available in Bangalore at the moment. So they've given me a choice to do a skype/phone interview.

Will it be weighed lesser than an alum interview? I mean its not my fault that the alum isnt available in Bangalore at the moment.

And also, will choosing one over the other(phone/skype) make any difference?

Thanks!

I have to imagine that it wouldn't, it's probably better that you have a skype/phone interview with an adcom because, at the end of the day, their opinion probably matters more than an alum.
