Just as the early NASA space explorers attempted on each flight to push the frontiers of our knowledge, so too are the new private consortium space explorers seeking to add to man’s general understanding of the cosmos.

(A) Just as the early NASA space explorers attempted on each flight to push the frontiers of our knowledge, so too
Comparing attempts of NASA explorers with the attempts of private space explorers. Correct comparison -- keep.

(B) The early NASA space explorers attempted on each flight to push the frontiers of our knowledge, and in the same way
Subject attempted on each flight.. sounds awkward. -- 'in the same way' is redundant. A build up for the comparison is much more suitable as noted in A.

(C) Like the case of the early NASA space explorers who attempted on each flight to push the frontiers of our knowledge, so too
Comparing a 'case' to a 'private space explorers seeking X' is incorrect.

(D) As in the early NASA space explorers’ attempts on each flight to push the frontiers of our knowledge, so too
Wrong construction for 'As in the early X..., so too .. You're going to need a noun that follows this.

(E) Similar to the early NASA space explorers attempted on each flight to push the frontiers of our knowledge, so too
'Similar to the early NASA space explorers attempted' sounds HORRIBLE. In addition, I am not sure what exactly is being compared? NASA space explorers ? Their attempt? Ambiguous.

Just as...... so is the Construct and in this particular question so too is necessary here to bring out the comparison or similarity between Nasa and Private Space consortiums.

Rest of the options are unidiomatic and confusing and option B is not parellel.
