nevergiveup,

I wish things had gone better for you, but considering the amount of work you have put in... I am sure you can get 700+ on the GMAT.

NEVER GIVE UP!!!

avernusaur,

Congrats... and thanks for the great debrief on Knewton. I am definitely considering taking Knewton right now and if I do I will be sure to post on my progress!

Congrats again! :-D

GMATPrep #2 Update

Score: 750 (Q49, V44)

Quant
-Missed 10 questions

I was 2 minutes ahead of schedule at q10 and 5 minutes behind schedule at q20. I carried this 3-5 minute deficit with me for the rest of the exam. I had to rush the last 10 questions and guess on the final question. As a result, my performance slipped a bit. Fortunately, I think I might be able to hit q50 on the real thing.

Verbal
-Missed 5 questions (3SC, 2CR)

I'd have to agree with the crowd on this one. The verbal section of GMATPrep 2 is significantly harder than that of GMATPrep 1. The passages were quite a bit harder, although I surprisingly had no errors, and some of the sentences were really hard.

Funny, I shot up from a 41 to a 46 or 47 on the Verbal GMATPrep2, whilst I dropped from 45 to 41 on the Quantitative.

I bombed it on test day.

I think it really depends on your study habits and your current capability. If you're scoring in the mid-40's for Verbal already, you'll probably get more value out of picking up some quant books and hitting those for a few weeks. I'm a big fan of Jeff Sackmann's quant materials if you haven't already looked at that. His Total GMAT Math should be enough to get you into the upper 40's and the Extreme Challenge set is a good way to hit the Q50 mark.

Hi avernosaur, I very much value your input. My highest individual scores on Gmatprep were Q45 and V46, I think. As I've said before, I completely plummeted on test day. I feel I need more help with Quant. You preferred Sackmann to Knewton?

Took a trial online class with Knewton yesterday. Having taken a trial with MGMAT before I was disappointed with the interface.
I have a standard Macbook and it turns out that I cannot make the window full-screen. I tried to change resolution, but it didn't help. Therefore, it was really hard to read the chat and questions. If anybody encountered this issue and resolved it, I will be happy to know the solution. (Tech support advised to get a bigger screen, thanks).
When we had to answer the question, there was no timer. MGMAT has a nice window with countdown.
Didn't like a white-board feature. Whether it's too sensitive, or you have to train more to get a better writing skill.
Sound switched off couple times. Refreshing the page helped, but still annoying.
The teachers were too fast, especially in a verbal part, however I think that's how you start to make your mind think faster.

MGMAT was so much nicer, but they do not cover as much material as Knewton. And they are more expensive.

I am in dilemma now. Wish I could get the best out of both classes...

Been hearing a lot about Knewton.

So i decided to take their diagnostic exam today. Scored a 680 (q40, v44)

Not sure what this means as i've been consistently getting above 48 in quant (gmatpreps). Though i'd like to add here that today i made a lot of silly errors in quant and my timing was awful (mind was distracted)

But what blew me over was the verbal score of 44! I consistently score between 650 and 700 on most tests (including gmatpreps) with verbal scores ranging from 30 to 35.

I guess most of the questions in the verbal section were representative of OG questions/GMATprep questions.

I am to take the exam soon. Not sure how accurate the Knewton scores are.

Pls advise
