Fellas,

Knewton CAT2: 740 (Q 48, V43) Q26,27,30 wrong V25,39,41 wrong. This was 10 days ago

Knewton CAT3: 700 (Q 50, V 34) Q All correct. V 4,33,40,41 ( I cant believe that I chose E for Q 33 while in my mind I answered it A, which is correct)

The only thing I figured out of so far with Knewton tests is on the GMAT in the Verbal Section" Dont think twice if you are confident, because it will cut into the time for the last 6/7 questions"

Now, I guess I am the second one to report that you get all 37 correct in Q and only still get a 95th percentile or lower.

Doesnt make sense? Do they?

I took MGMAT CAT #4 today as another reference point.

Score: 730 (Q49,V41)

Admittedly, I still struggle with the seemingly impossible timing requirements for MGMAT CAT's. I paused the clock for a few minutes in each section. The quant is simply really involved and the reading comp passages are super long.

I'm done with my Knewton course now, so I'll be spending the next two weeks taking practice tests and reviewing weak areas.

Re: Knewton online course. Review. [#permalink]
Just finished my very last Knewton CAT. It is very disheartening. It make me want to cancel my already scheduled exam date.
I got a 580 which is much lower than my diagnostic exam score and other knewton score. Q 48 missed question 15, and 29. V 22 only, missed questions 3, 11, 13, 14, 17, 25, 26, 36, 38, 39
Math is just way too easy. I finished math portion with 30 minutes to spare. I finished verbal part with one minute left.
I will spend some more time to understand the verbal questions I missed. Why I just can't crack GMAT verbal? I did very good in GRE verbal.

Re: Knewton online course. Review. [#permalink]
Ok. I tooked GMATprep 1 last night. After five month not touching GMATprep material, I forgot most of the questions. Therefore, the test will probably reflect better of my ability.

I scored 680 on GMATprep1 with Q51 V30
For the Q section I missed question# 1, 17, 30, 33. (1PS 3DS) I can't believe I missed the first question. That is totally because I didn't pay close attention to the question. It is something square, but I interpreted as something times 2.

For the V section, I missed question# 1, 4, 5, 15, 17, 23, 24, 25, 26, 30, 31, 32, 34, 39, and 41 (6SC, 2CR, 7RC) I know I am weak in RC. There is one passage I totally don't understand what it is saying; therefore, I missed all four questions for that passage. I think so far my CR is strong. Technically I should say I only missed one CR question. The other one because I ran out of time so I guessed an answer without even reading the questions and moved on. What surprises me is SC. In knewton CAT, I usually one miss about 1 or 2 SC questions. Now, I can tell how easy knewton CAT's SC questions are.

For the rest of the days left until my exam, I am going to focus more on SC. As for RC, it purely depends on my luck now. If I don't get some RC passages that I totally cannot understand, then I will be fine.

GMATPrep #2 Update

Score: 750 (Q49, V44)

Quant
-Missed 10 questions

I was 2 minutes ahead of schedule at q10 and 5 minutes behind schedule at q20. I carried this 3-5 minute deficit with me for the rest of the exam. I had to rush the last 10 questions and guess on the final question. As a result, my performance slipped a bit. Fortunately, I think I might be able to hit q50 on the real thing.

Verbal
-Missed 5 questions (3SC, 2CR)

I'd have to agree with the crowd on this one. The verbal section of GMATPrep 2 is significantly harder than that of GMATPrep 1. The passages were quite a bit harder, although I surprisingly had no errors, and some of the sentences were really hard.

Re: Knewton online course. Review. [#permalink]
Just took GMATprep 2.

Scored 720

Q50 Missed questions # 5, 7, 27, 29, 32, 34, 36, 37 (5DS 3PS)
V38 Missed questions # 4, 7, 18, 19, 29, 30, 34, 38 (2SC 2RC 4CR)

The improvement of verbal is attributed to the number of SC and RC questions I got right. However, I missed more CR questions in this one.

For the final few days, I will just do review all previous mistakes. I have seen one of the SC questions in this exam several time, but I got it wrong everytime.

Pretty crazy how a 3 question difference is the difference between a V39 and a V44.

You guys both have great scores. Congrats!

I was thinking the same thing. I think the difference is a combination of experimental questions and the distribution of our wrong answers. I think mine were fairly spread out. Nevergiveup's were clustered together in pairs, so that might have limited the number of difficult questions presented.

V38 Missed questions # 4, 7, 18, 19, 29, 30, 34, 38 (2SC 2RC 4CR)

I still think 3-5 errors is a pretty good target for ~V44.

GMATPrep #2 Re-take

Score: 770 (Q50, V47)

Quant
-Missed 6
-1 repeat
-Finished with 9 minutes remaining

Verbal
-Missed 2 (1SC, 1RC)
-4 repeats (3SC, 1CR)
-Finished with 12 minutes remaining

Overall, today was a good performance for my final practice test. I usually finish a GMATPrep CAT with 1-2mins remaing, so I'm not sure how I was so fast today. I'm happy with where my scores have been so far though, so hopefully I can make it happen at the test center on Saturday.

haha, you can say sock on this forum.

Yes, I'm taking it easy tomorrow :) I don't need to review, study, or practice anything, but I might briefly look over some quant question types to make sure I remember the rules/approach. I was actually going to meet some friends for sushi tonight, but that seemed a little risky. I've never gotten sick from it before, but now isn't a good time for my first.

For those of you that are still deep in your preparation and struggling to get your target score, here's how I feel. I've had plenty of great practice test scores, but I still don't know the answer to every question. You're unlikely to ever get to point where you know EVERYTHING, and that's okay. Just don't be too hard on yourselves. I stopped using GMATClub Math Tests and the Brutal SC document because they were both so demoralizing. Confidence is really important on this test, so remember to incorporate materials that make you feel good about your progress.

Re: Knewton online course. Review. [#permalink]
Here is my experience of Knewton:

CAT#1 680 (Q48, V34) ---Diagnostic
CAT#2 710 (Q48, V38)
CAT#3 690 (Q48, V35)
CAT#4 730 (Q46, V45)

Official GMAT 740 (Q50, V40)

Pros of the course:
- Great instructors - David and Brad are distinctly good for verbal.
- High quality questions - Knewton has plenty of practice questions
- Convenience - I am a big sceptic of online courses, but I found Knewton refreshing all the way.
- Completeness - you get great tuition, high quality practices, CATs, twice a week "Office Hours" to supplement the course, a very helpful & responsive staff. Also, the course is probably one of the most thorough courses you can find.

Cons:
- Not enough hard questions - you will see a lot of easy-to-medium questions (both in practice tests and CATs), but a small number of harder questions. Nevertheless, the questions are good to learn the concept. I used MGMAT for harder questions.
-Everything is on the screen - I know some people like the comfort of a book. I still think the course could be improved by producing guides similar to the ones at MGMAT. In fact, I supplemented Knewton with various guides such as those of MGMAT to consolidate my knowledge.

As I said in "Share Experience" thread, all in all I LOVED my experience with Knewton.

Hope this helps :)
