HI,
I am an Indian female. I have 575 FE score... I know it's too low. But, I have been accepted at Cambridge MBA.
I am thinking of applying to LBS-R3.
Manny of you will say... improve the score and then apply.... But I feel I have a very diverse background. I have my masters in Urban Planning and when I searched the linkedin for similar profile..... I couldn't find any....people have either done architecture or similar things... but no 1 in urban....
Should I apply??
Should I mention in my application about my diverse profile... that no 1 generally does MBA after doing urban planning.....
Kindly share your views....
I already have UK dependant visa... so no issue for last minute student visa trouble
Hi there,
Congratulations on the Judge admit. You are going to a town with a great campus vibe.
I undertsand your thought about applying to LBS. My normal advice would be to say that you apply in R1 for 2025 admission, even if you were to apply with the same 575 FE score. However, I understand you want to give it a chance before the MBA starts at Cambridge. Thats a valid point and you can apply with the mindset of giving it a shot as you have nothing to lose. However, do note, that MBA admissions are unpredictable. What worked for you at one b-school may not work at another. So, preapare a solid app for LBS which means you give a deep thought to your career goals essay and use the optional essay wisely to share experieces that would be relevant to a business school. Also note, LBS has a very long application, so spend time working on each element.
I agree with Aanchal that just the degree alone will not be a differentiator. Even if people have not studied urban planning, they may be working in the field (I had an engineer applicant two years ago who had spent 2-3 years working on the smart city projects with the Govt of India). Linkedin search may not give you exhaustive results, and secondly, i would not want to tell the bschool that "no 1 generally does MBA after doing urban planning.....". You should instead tell what experiences you have had in your field and what unique perspective will you bring to the classroom that may be useful for your classmates' learning. Secondly, I hope that your goals will be aligned in some way to this 'urban planning' experience if you are going to use it as a differentiator.
