Hello all,

The question:

Quote:
Take the example of a leader you admire and indicate the traits you like

I understand that traditionally this question is to be answered with a real life person etc.

Could I use a character from a film as the example of a leader?

The main character from "Gladiator" or ....

My concerns:
* This may not be what the admissions committe is looking for
* If the leader is to be someone I have been admiring for a long time then the movie I have in mind came out in the late 1990s
* Other concerns?

Any thoughts most welcome.

Thanks,
Rahul.

The fact that your character may be in a movie is fine. The important part of the question isn't the "who" it's the "traits you like," and the implicit why. Further more, it would be ideal if you can show when you have incorporated your gladiator's example into your life.

Good luck!

Thanks NEWKID, Venksune and Accepted.com for the feedback.

The original essay-question is
Quote:
How do you define leadership? Take the example of a leader you admire (living or deceased), and indicate the traits you like(Maximum of 200 words each)

So, now, in just 200 words I don't think I can show how I incorporated ... in my life. Any suggestions?

Also, the question states "living or deceased" .. so now, in this context, is the film character a good choice. I feel fairly comfortable with it but am not sure about the admissions officer's intent in putting the question forth ... whether he is specifically talking about a real life person as the only leader. You get what I mean ... please guide.

Linda, I would really like to know your opinion on whether I can stick to my film character as a leader even when the essay questions states "living or deceased".

Thanks.

I still feel that using a character from recent popular fiction would not make the best match for this question.

If the character is fictional, then I don't think you should use this character. If he is a film character based on a historical figure, then I don't think it's a problem.

Good luck!
