Hello,
In short, such a recommendation doesn't really help you unless the professor really has something specific and interesting to say about your candidacy. Lots of applicants wrongly assume that admissions officers will be impressed by the fact that they "know someone on the inside," but unless that someone is a significant donor to the school or leads a company that hires a lot of grads from the school, that connection isn't worth that much. It won't hurt, necessarily, but it could hurt if it's taking the place of a reco that could have helped you more.
If you do have a prof write you a reco, try to make it more about your professional qualities than about your academics. Business schools want to admit future business leaders, not just students who will earn high marks!
