Possessive cases can be represented as follows
1) Ram's book
2) Book of Ram
In the above sentence the of prepositional phrase can be rephrased as Gregory the Great's stronghold thus the relative pronoun who cannot refer to stronghold. Usage of which should be correct in my opinion.
Please do give your inputs on whether the above mentioned approach is correct or not.
