Hi
I have a low GPA of 2.7 from a not very well know school(Florida Atlantic University).
I graduated in December 2002, MS Finance, Marketing, Management.
I have been self-employed right out of college, but was forced to close down my business in 2005.
Since, then I have been studying for the GMAT and got a 700 on the GMAT this past May.
I plan to go into the banking industry in which I have no experience in.(I was in the furniture industry)
What are my chances at the Stern program and if my chances aren't so good, what are my options to make me a better candidate?
Thank You
ZoSo13,
Sorry for the late reply. I've been on the road, and Internet access has been unreliable. As it stands, your chances at Stern seem terrible to me. You need to get a 700 plus GMAT score (ideally 740 plus), build an alternative transcript by getting A's in 3 - 5 pre-MBA type quant classes at a decent school, and get a job in which you demonstrate leadership and impact. Even if you do these things you will have a big challenge in accounting for what you've been doing since 2005. Hopefully, you will have some positive stories to tell them.
Good luck,
