The rule simply says that each term is the sum of the previous two terms.

Let \(a_2=x\). Since \(a_1=5\):

\(a_3=5+x\)

\(a_4=x+(5+x)=5+2x\)

\(a_5=(5+x)+(5+2x)=10+3x\)

But \(a_5=7\), so:

\(10+3x=7\)

\(x=-1\)

Therefore, \(a_2=-1\).

Hope it's clear.
