IMO D.

CounterPremise: Many people feel that hard work deserves a reward
Main Conclusion: However, this is not true. Why? Intermediate conclusion/Premise supporting main conclusion: Hardwork should be its own reward,(Premise supporting intermediate conclusion) because such work intrinsically gives the worker satisfaction when it is performed satisfactorily.

The bold phrase plays which of the following roles in the argument?
A. It provides information that undermines the conclusion
B. It points out the assumption with which the author disagrees.
C. It repeats a previously stated premise
D. It offers support for the author's conclusion
E. It is the conclusion the author's argument is designed to reach

Sorry to dissapoint you guys but i'm pretty sure answer is D.

Cheers
J :)

What author is trying to advocate here; author is rejecting the idea that "hard work deserves a award".
Means authors stand is "Hard work do not deserves a award"

Many people feel that hard work deserves a reward. However, this is not true.

Setting premise to support his stand :
Hard work should(obligatory) be its own reward, because such work intrinsically gives the..........

Thus answer should be IMO D.

D suits better...Here the point is not to prove that Hardwork should be its own reward but to refute the commonly held belief that hard work should be rewarded.

Actually, D is an intermediate conclusion. Main conclusion is Hard work is the reward.

Hi

Hard work should be it???s own reward - is supported by next line . Therefore this must be conclusion.

Kindly explain where I am wrong.
