I'm thinking of applying for the early admission process for the August 2022 intake of the Masters In Financial Engineering. However, I will not be able to complete the GMAT before I apply as I am currently completing other exams (the CFA exams, I have my level 2 exam in May). However, I do have 4 years of experience in finance in Europe, including in front-office roles.
Does anybody know if the MFE (or the masters in finance, management, analytics etc.) commonly accept applicants without a GMAT? The website says that the GMAT is not compulsory but that it will add strength to your application. Do you know of anybody who has been accepted into a masters in NUS without a GMAT?
Thank you,

I have this conversation almost every day with a prospective applicant to MBA and other Masters programs.
Two things have upended the question around taking the GMAT:
1) Programs saying the GMAT is optional 2) Program saying they are ok with the GMAT or the GRE
My answer is always the same.
The GMAT has been the testing standard for MBA admissions for many years (50+). Not only is it widely known and understood by Admissions Committees, it also forms the basis of several key MBA school rankings and scholarship decisions for applicants.
It's true that you can gain admission to your program without the GMAT, but there needs to be something else to take its place. What other objective evidence can you provide of your executive reasoning skills? Your quant skills will be obvious from your CFA etc. But the other elements need to come out elsewhere in your application.
Happy to discuss further including how you can more quickly prep for the GMAT using a process/strategy focused approach that reduces the need for deep academic knowledge of quant and verbal.

Candidates get accepted every year in NUS without GMAT however they have different selling points.
The first hindrance I see in your pasters application is that why Master's when you are eligible to apply for MBA??? Most institutes might want to disqualify you for admission's in master's program for the same reason and would suggest you to shift your application to MBA admissions
