Dear All,
I am in the process of applying to business schools this year for Masters in Finance programs. My profile is as follows:
Undergrad: BSc. Accounting and Finance (Maths minor) from the top business school in Pakistan with a distinction (GPA 3.62/4)
GMAT: 720 (Q48 V40)
CFA Level 1 cleared
Experience: I have done two internships at the Central Bank of Pakistan and Ernst & Young. Since my graduation in May 2017 I have been working as a financial analyst at a PE firm in Pakistan.= and have worked on multiple deals worth over USD 1 million.
I am targeting the following programs: Mfin at MIT, MFA at LBS, MFin at USC Marshall, MFE at Oxford, MFeng at Haas, MFeng at UCLA.
My major concern is a lower GMAT quant score.
I think for these firms- and given that you got some good finance experience out of the gates along with strong GPA- would put you in good stead for these programs. My question however- is if you are already in PE and getting great work experience- why not just keep working for a few years and build experience as I think then you could get an MBA and specialize in deeper finance if you choose but also be able to gain more value from the degree after bringing in further work insights to the program. Just something to consider... and if you wanted to plan ahead- we could help you a year out to develop a strong profile for MBA applications. I would also appreciate suggestions for other programs to consider.
Thanks
