MBA and which schools to apply

Question

Hi Greetings,
I had GMAT 650 in first trial and hoping for another 50 points or more increase next month. I have Undergraduate GPA, with chemistry major, of 3.3 overall, with senior and junior year GPA about 3.7. I have been self employed for few years but never worked for companies but have been involved in financial market and have studied financial market and investments, with positive return, trading actively and want to get into business school that has strong Finance Courses in North East of the USA. Please advise which are my good options with chances of being admitted. Not looking for financial aid but a suitable program. I am a foreign students. Do I have any chance at NYU or Columbia or other within top 20, applying for third round if not second. Thanks in advance for your advise.

In order to give you the best recommendation it would be helpful to know a little more information.

- What university did you graduate from?
- Tell me more about your self-employment, its mostly trading? How much money have you made annually?
- What do you do outside of work?

You haven't provided much info about your profile - like work experience in detail and extracurricular(if any). I would say, applying in R3 is a bit tricky. So, if your profile is strong enough to apply in R3 you should definitely give it a try. Else, I would suggest you to apply next year in R1 with an improved GMAT Score.

Based on the information you have provided, I would suggest you to apply to B-Schools like- Duke Fuqua, UCLA, Michigan Ross and Cornell. These B-Schools are really good for finance. NYU can be a stretch B-Schools.

Where are you from? What do you mean self employed. What school? Why no big companies? Are your own ventures big? What are you involved in? What gender? What background? See what I mean? Hi, To get into schools like NYU or Columbia you surely need a high GMAT score. In case you manage to get 700 you can surely apply to the schools with top 50 in rank.
