Hi Paul,
I am new to forum and have read previous postings from members and noticed that your respond is very encouraging and to the point. I have recently started working towards my GMAT but based on my Pre-Engineering background from back home and some Algebra and Calculas class I took in States I have a strong feeling I can do really good in quantitative part. I am only worried about Essay writing as I have been out of acedamics for long time. I did my BBA in (Managment Information Systems) 7 years ago and since then I am working in IT field. The only thing which has always stopped me to go back to college to pursue MBA is a fear that I will not be accepted in a good program as my bachelors GPA is 2.75 (Major IS courses 3.0). Apart from IS courses I had to take Stats, Economics, Accounting and Finance (mostly A's and B's).
Right out of college I got into IT field and have been involved in system analysis & design, application development and deployment. I have worked in various industries(Public Sector, Healthcare, Telecom and Banking to name a few) as part of a IT Consulting organization. My ineterest is particulary in MBA in IT Project Management. Could you help me find schools in North East where I have better chance to get accepted. Also, since I have always worked as a contractor I have no financial backing from my employer or something, could you suggest ways to get into some programs which can offer decent scholorship atleast to take care of half of the tution. I am hoping with 2 months of hard work I can surely score 700-720 in GMAT, getting professional references from executives I work or have worked with is no problem, only thing is my low GPA in past.
I am targetting for Spring 2008 for good program in NY/NJ area.
Do I have any chance ? Your suggestion will be highly appreciated.
Sorry for long psot.
