Everyone already knows that a lot of schools have shifted to teaching online because of Coronavirus or COVID-19. Are the students happy about it? It seems like not but the schools are left with no other option than continuing the online classes. Some of the students have started change.org petitions asking the school administrations to reduce their tuition fee, some are asking for future tuition discount and others are asking for tuition reimbursement!

Yale seems to be the most brazen of the bunch with a 25% reimbursement and which is why it is only signed by 17 people. I could be wrong but it seems the Yale petition is going to prove how NOT to do petitions

Well I could not find this post earlier so started a new thread (apologies for the same).
Keeping all things aside, it is worth discussing why leading B schools should or should not wave off some part of the tuition fee for incoming students this year! In such a difficult time which is expected to get worse as days go by, there are many industries which have shown exemplary & considerate actions to accommodate their customers. Even GMAC with their quirky online GMAT proposal, has waived off some amount of registration charges for the exam just because it is going to be online for some time. Why leading B schools should be any different considering top IVY league business schools are well endowed by alumni as well as from other sources?
The current crises which are unfolding will have a confounding impact on the way businesses are run in future even if they are into education. It will be noteworthy to see how the so called meccas of business education respond to the current crises and emerge out indeed as the holy grails of business education. Whatever responses I have seen so far from some of the top schools have not been very inspiring.
I once asked one of my marketing professors why leaders in organizations fail to act appropriately when tons of case studies and theories preach the optimal path for navigating difficult business situations, to which he replied that decisions are taken by human beings and whether human beings will follow what is taught to them is a different question all together.
