Hi guyz,

one quick question:

i can't find any section in the online application, where I can mention my extra curricular activities, community work and other achievements.

However, McCombs admission blog says:

"Service, Activities, and Recognition:
This information is used to provide some personal character to your application. We ask ourselves, what does this applicant do outside of their professional life? How did they spend the hours during undergrad when they weren’t spent in class? Highlight your personal honors and achievements, any non-professional leadership positions in the community, and any extra-curricular activities you were involved with in undergrad."

Can't write everything in resume.

I feel that there must be some section in the online application, where all of these can be mentioned.

Request your help.

Thank you so much.

I think your essays must have some insight into your extra curricular work. Of course, the resume will only have highlights; essays will have details, contributions, learning...

Hopefully. :)

thanx kaustubh,

does it mean that there is no section in online application to mention all these?

Yeah. I have gone through the application a few times before today, and I don't think I came across this.
I may have missed it, though - maybe I'll check it once again after I get home from work.

I checked it several times, couldn't find it.

Just want to double check and confirm.

Does anyone here know how generous McCombs is with scholarships for international students ?

Hello, Juqqurnau! As far as I'm concerned, McCombs give merit-based admission scholarships ranging from 5k to 10k annually. And part of the scholarship receiver also received out of state tuition waiver. This waiver can really save large amount of money! And in the second year, international students can apply for more scholarships or even the RA/ TA positions. Some of them may also qualify you for out of state waiver. Hope it helps.

So one of my recommedars got back to me saying , he was being asked to answer the recommendation questions in 200 'characters' with an optional letter? Has anyone else's recommender said the same thing?

Thanks lifeboat for the input. Would you be in a position to shed more light on out of state waiver? In terms of how do we qualify for that and if we need to follow a seperate procedure for the same ?

McCombs offers recruiting scholarships in the form of cash awards and out-of-state tuition waivers. All applicants are automatically considered for recruiting scholarships, as well as various smaller awards during the admission process; no additional paperwork needs to be submitted.

Scholarships are offered to students who have demonstrated a superior record of academic and professional accomplishment in their application materials. Cash awards range from $2,000 to $10,000 and consist of both one and two-year awards. In addition, these awards often provide out-of-state tuition waivers, which save the student an additional $16,000 per year. Recruiting scholarships are distributed almost exclusively on the basis of merit. First-round scholarship recipients are typically notified at the time of their admission, however, scholarships may be awarded anytime after that depending on availability.

Hi All,

What is the application deadline for the submission (in terms of time, 5 PM or 11:59 PM?). I searched through the website, but could not find the timings.

Any ideas?

The waiver could be regarded as part of the admission scholarship. You might be informed of this waiver with the scholarship result after you get admitted. This is also merit-based and need no additional application.

Application is now in. Now comes the horribly convoluted experience of seperate websites to submit transcripts, etc. I was warned by a friend that applied to McCombs last year that McCombs has the most backwords, convoluted, confusing system of any business school out there and can't say I disagree so far. That doesn't change the fact that I'd love to be a Longhorn, but just letting you all know that we are not alone in our confusion/frustration with the McCombs application system.

Now we play the waiting game and hope for good news! Good luck to you all

That helps lifeboat. Appreciate your inputs!

Ditto for point 1. GMAC sent me a mail saying my scores were delivered on 30th September. Yet status shows that the scores haven't been received yet. Sent them a mail (https://www.utexas.edu/ogs/admissions/usgradcontact.html) and waiting for a reply.

Will keep you guys posted.

The response I got from UT-GIAC states that once your application is on file after submission (which will take some time), the scores should automatically reflect as 'updated' on the system. You can confirm with them if they have received your test scores.
