Hi All,

I am a lawyer from a top 5 law school in India. I hold a dual degree (Bachelor of Socio-Legal Sciences + Bachelor of Law).

Work experience: 3 years.

1. Consultant - EY, Bangalore for 1 year. Work profile- corporate advisory, private equity/funds advisory, tax advisory.

2. Associate Legal Counsel- role of an in-house corporate lawyer with Infosys Limited. Work profile: Negotiations, Deals, Risk strategies and liabilities.

GMAT: 740 GPA: 3.6 plus

Extra curricular: Professional Classical vocalist with 15+ awards from various institutions.

Blogger+ Run an online fashion initiative promoting Indian fashion and brands. Run the team newsletter at work.

Volunteering work: good amount of volunteering and community service including Bharat scouts and guides, Make a difference etc.

Preferential schools: Yale, Stanford, Booth, CMU Tepper, Kelley’s, Georgetown

Significant achievements: 0.1% merit certificate from CBSE; Part of British Council’s “Dreams and Teams” leadership initiative.

Other courses: Hold diplomas from Asian school of cyber laws, World intellectual property organisation.
Completed “Harvard Manage Mentor” modules.

Languages: English, hindi, tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Marathi (7 languages)

Post MBA goal: transition from a purely legal advisory role to business and strategy role. And work in the Tech space- specifically Retail Tech

Background and nationality: Asian-American from NYC area. Working in finance (sales & trading) at an Investment Bank for 4 years.
Undergrad Information: Graduated in 2014 from a large private university ranked in top 80 by US news
GMAT: 680 (82%) IR:7 (82%), Q:49 (74%), V:34 (71%)
GPA: 2.5
Work experience and leadership: Worked in Sales & Trading at IB for 4 years. Worked as Analyst for first 3 years, then was promoted to Assistant VP at the beginning of 2018. As AVP, I helped lead/manage a team of 5, reported directly to senior management, and trained 2 new analysts and a summer analyst (who received a return offer).
Community and others: Involved in two non profits - World Vision (help sponsor kids in third world countries and writes letters to them) and Epilepsy Foundation of NY (helped raise funds and awareness through events).
Post MBA goals: Pivot careers from finance to management consulting in Washington DC area, which is where family and relatives are.
Anything else: I had a very low gpa in college because I didn't take it seriously and didn't try hard (I worked 30-35 hours per week for about a year to financially support myself and had brain surgery before entering college because of epilepsy. I still take responsibility for the low gpa because I didn't study hard). In order to show that I am serious, I took a couple of quantitative courses (Financial Accounting & Macroeconomics) at a local college the past couple of years and received an A in both.

Graduation : 
Bachelors of Architecture 
(5 years course including 6 months internship)

College : NIT

CGPA : 7.67

GMAT : 710 (Q49, V 36)

Work Experience : 25 months at Larsen and Toubro 
(as on august 2019)
Role : Senior architect

Have taken up more responsibility than is usually awarded at my cadre. Have handled one project in last year and am handling another project on my own as of now.(project values upwards of 100 crores)

Co Curriculars :
1. Regularly volunteer for ngo camps ( elderdly health camps etc)
2. Was part of organizing committees of college fests, department functions, functions in school
3. Was involved in dramatics and debating in school

Why mba ?

I know the technical aspects of a building, from the floor plans to the ventilation system, from the effect it can have on a person to the how livable and sustenable it can be .
I want to able to look at the same built environment from a business/financial/economic point of view also, to be able to have a more cohesive bigger picture.

I am looking at Mcdonough as a school I want to go to the coming year. Request your comments and any suggestions for schools other than IMD would be highly appreciated.

GMAT: 660 ( Q 48, V 33) - Less than Gmatprep mocks given so will be attempting once more

Work experience: Project management , 7 years of experience in development and delivery of
capital infrastructure(T&D) projects with Tata Power
• Have been part of core teams in developing energy assets( capex) acheiveing capitalisation ranging USD 5M to 75M.
and increasing installed transmission capacity upwards of 2000 MVA.
• Led project execution at site for major capex projects managing site team of OEMs, large contractors and local vendors( team size approx 150+)
• Have managed multidisciplinary engineering site activities for a major project transition from EPC to BOQ model( short close contract of major EPC player midway in the project led to change in execution philosophy).
• Have led department HSE activities as departmental coordinator for 6 months. Prepped HSE dashboard for senior management, analysed operational and audit data for multiple sites to help bring two important safety improvements that were showcased in company's annual innovation event.
• Worked on project sites with international teams of various OEMs for a consistent time frame. ( 5 years)

Community and others:
• I have worked at an NGO full time for 6 months involved in installation of solar equipment in remote villages in gujarat. I spent a significant portion of this time also working on literacy campaigns for such remote villages on the use of solar pumps and panels.
• While working for transmission line projects in Mumbai, I have been actively involved in regular programs where people living below high voltage transmission lines are sensitized on the dangers of EHV lines.
• I have worked also with a couple of tourist organisation in Goa for 2 months where I had been involved in sustainable cooking practices in a small village for a large tourist crowd.

Post MBA goals
• Post graduation I want to continue in the energy sector as my interests are strongly aligned with the renewable space. My short term goals include getting to work on the manufacturing side of the project supply chain ( Companies like Tesla, ABB, Vestas, Siemens, GE) as till now I have worked for a utility and client side. Long term goals are to work on large scale distributed energy sufficiency programs for developing economies.
