Congratulations.
I would take a scholarship. Probably rice or Mendoza. I don’t think McDonough brand stands so tall above those two programs to commend a $90,000 premium. Do you have a great name on your résumé and experience that will help open the doors into consulting companies.

I would highly recommend that you sign up for the pre-MBA Consulting internships they have just opened up.

Hi Guys,

I am an Indian national and I am deciding between admits from the following B-Schools for my Full-Time MBA program starting Fall 2023. The cost of attending the program is definitely an important data point, but willing to trade for a better location and job opportunities.

1. McDonough - No Scholarship
2. Scheller - $96k Scholarship (Full GRA)
3. Rice - $90k Scholarship
4. Mendoza - $80K

My Academic and Professional Background:
1. Years of Work Experience - 8 Years (PwC - Strategy consulting)
2. Functions Worked In - Financial Services (Banking, Insurance, Fintech)

Post MBA Target Industry - Consulting - MBB or otherwise internal Consulting

Appreciate your advice and opinions!

Hi medha312 Congratulations on your impressive admission offers and scholarships! Based on the current economy, it would be wise to choose the scholarship offers to minimize your student loan burden upon graduation. With your strong professional background, you can expect to have positive outcomes at all of these schools. OfCourse, having a firsthand exchange with alumni of these schools would be the best way to decide which school would be the best for MBB recruitment. I have also seen folks crack MBB within 1-2 years of graduating even when they did not study at an MBB target school in the US.

Best wishes

Thank you BB. Would you not recommend Scheller? I was leaning towards it since there is full scholarship and the program has a smaller class size. Also a current student at Rice told me that internship placement was quite bad this year. From my conversations with students from Scheller and Rice, I gather that MBB recruitment is similar by 2022 reports, maybe slightly better for international students (like myself) at Scheller (compared to Rice and Mendoza, although BCG is not active recruiter at Scheller).

Another concern I have is Full GRA might eat into my time to explore other opportunities, would then a full scholarship be a good idea?

Appreciate your help, always!
Thanks
Medha

Hi Medha,

Which school did you choose? I am also struggling to decide between Scheller and Rice.

Unless you have some kind of a fellowship or opportunity for an internship graduate assistantship that can lead to an internship or a job, I would consider cost as a significant differentiator

Hi, I have full GRA from Scheller and $70k scholarship (50% of the total fee) from Rice. I have 7 years of experience in consulting and would like to transition to an MBB...currently working for a big 4.
