Hi Amantrii,

Would recommend taking another attempt at the GMAT, as your current score of 425 is very low or applying to schools which do not require the GMAT. Please let me know which geographies you are looking at, and I can recommend schools accordingly.

Hello timhenn,

Yes, that is correct; MiM programs are more prevalent in Europe, and if you would eventually want to stay in Europe, it makes sense for you to work towards joining a European program.

All the best!
timhenn
thanks for the insight. In Europe that would be HEC, LBS, SSE and maybe INSEAD. Are there any schools in the US that would offer better MiM programs? especially considering I might want to stay in Europe. I've heard that MiM aren't that highly valued in the US.

ExpertsGlobal
Hello timhenn,

You have a great GMAT score and a number of talking points that would prove to be very value adding. The goals make sense as well.

You would definitely be eligible for scholarships.

For now, your focus should be on identifying the schools you wish to target post which you should focus on crafting holistic applications.

All the best!
timhenn
Profile Evaluation:

Background and nationality: German, 23
Undergrad Information: Double Degree in Int Management in Germany and Italy. GPA 3,7 or 30/30
GMAT/GRE: 695 FE
Work experience and leadership: 2 Consulting Internships, ScaleUp Strategy, Audit Working Student
Community and others: Tutoring, Charity Sport Initiative, Research Assistant, Student Consulting, University Sustainability Initiative
Post Master goals: Consulting/VC

I'd like to aim for the best programs in Europe and possibly also the US, depending on eligibility for scholarships. I'd be happy to receive any evaluation, especially if you think I could be eligible for scholarships in the US and if that would even make sense in my position.

Hi all, currently working in LDN but targeting only top of the line MiF/MiM programmes to help me move to a better firm as I lack name brands on my cv. I'm going to apply to more MiFs than MiMs but a lot of the MiM programmes place well into banking in London so I think its worth the shot.

This is my profile:

23 yo Colombian from a UK-Semi Target did Business and Finance and scored a 67% overall so a 2:1, I'm also a CFA L2 candidate

Scored 310 on the GRE with no practice, confident I can get a 330 if I study hardcore everyday for the next month and a half as I tend to do well on these types of tests

Work ex: 6 month internship in vc/pe in london but a no name firm, 3 month internship in infra PE in ldn again a no name firm but this gives me about 9-10 months of work exp after graduating although as an intern which I think could hurt me. Before graduating I did a 3 month internship in IB at a boutique in the US, and an internship in colombia doing audit at a large bank in the area

I also contribute to a charity back home every summer

Goal after MiF is to work in IB 2-3 years then go into the buyside

I'm already getting decent traction from recruiters and rejected a masters offer from a semi target I applied to as a plan B earlier this year. I feel more confident about my profile 1-year after graduation and for this reason I am aiming very high as if its not a stelar program I don't think its worth it for me to bear the cost.

Hi!

Your current profile looks great for an MFin. You don't need to worry about having only internships versus full-time experience, as most ad coms look for demonstrated interest, and internships are the best way to show it. Full-time work experience becomes important while considering an MBA.

The most important component you need to work on currently is your GRE score and aim for a near-perfect score in the Quant section. Please aim to take at least 8-10 full-length mock tests before taking your next attempt and analyse your performance in these mocks to ensure the best score in your official attempt.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Keeratdeep,

To make your profile more competitive, we would need 2 more internships - one of them can be in your family business, and the other one can be in a managerial role (finance/marketing/HR, etc.) at any other company. In addition, you would need to take the official GMAT, as you have mentioned the mock test score. Please note that to work in a profession like consulting, you will need to pursue an MBA at some point in the future as well.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or would like to schedule a consultation.

Hello everyone,
Could you please evaluate my profile for top Master's in Finance programs in Europe (HEC, St. Gallen, ESCP, ESSEC, Bocconi, LBS, LSE, etc.) and the United States (Yale, Duke, Columbia, NYU, Brandeis, etc.)? I plan to apply for Fall 2026 intake.
Profile:
  • 20-year-old male from Belgium, with dual nationality (Belgian and Swedish)
  • Fluent in French, Swedish, and English; working proficiency in Dutch
  • Developed a strong interest in finance during my undergraduate studies and have since pursued relevant academic and extracurricular experiences
Education:
  • Currently completing a Bachelor's in Business Engineering at one of Belgium’s top business schools
  • Expected graduation: Summer 2026
  • GPA: 3.7/4.0 (in the US system)
Standardized Tests:
  • Planning to take the GMAT this summer (target score: 670+, is it enough ?)
  • TOEFL scheduled for early September
Work Experience:
  • Worked several months in the hospitality sector (client-facing, high-pressure environment)
  • Junior Financial Trainee at a European firm:

    • Participated in client meetings
    • Provided advisory support on investment portfolios
    • Contributed to real-life financial case analyses and decision-making

Extracurriculars & Certifications:
  • Volunteer tutor in quantitative subjects (math, statistics) for other bachelor students
  • Participated in multiple business games, including the largest CSR-focused competitions in Europe
  • Managed a simulated $100,000 portfolio over 10 weeks and outperformed the benchmark by 8%
  • Completed the Yale Online Course: Financial Markets by Professor Robert Shiller to deepen my understanding of finance
  • Completed the Wall Street Prep Excel Basic Package (Excel for finance + intro to financial modeling)

    • [Open to advice: would the Premium Package be significantly more valuable?]

Target Programs (examples):
  • Europe: HEC Paris, ESSEC, ESCP, EDHEC, Bocconi, LBS, LSE, Imperial, St. Gallen
  • US: Yale (MAM or Silver Scholars), Columbia (MFE/MFA), NYU, Duke MQM, Brandeis, MIT, Berkeley MFE
  • Canada: University of Toronto (Rotman), McGill (Desautels)
I’m currently using July and August to strengthen my profile further by preparing for GMAT/TOEFL.
Any feedback, tips on target schools, or GMAT strategies are greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

Hi Yuvraj,

Given your profile, I would recommend applying for the Fall'26 intake for MiM as most programs admit applicants with 0-2 years of FT work experience. To improve your profile, I would recommend taking another attempt at the GMAT, as your GPA and GMAT score are used as the primary filtering mechanisms by universities while screening your applications. Also, please check the IELTS score requirements, as certain universities might specify an IELTS score of above 7.0. Please continue your full-time role in Business Development unitl you submit your application, as universities don't like to see any gaps on your resume. You can target universities like Imperial, UCL, Bayes and King's in the UK.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to book a consultation!

Hey Bhuvi_Saluja,
1. LBS does NOT normally consider applicants with fewer than two years' relevant work experience. Avg is 6 years
2. LSE – MSc Finance requires at least a UK 2:1 / ~70%+ and strong quantitative skills; most admits have first-class-level academics. BBA 8.5/10 is fine, but LSE is heavily quant-screened; GMAT Focus 675 is borderline unless quant is further evidenced

Listing down some of your options:
[*]Apply now (best odds): Imperial MSc Finance (competitive target).
[*]Apply as Stretches (with stronger quant/test): LSE MSc Finance, HEC MiF, Oxford MFE.
[*]Defer until more experience: LBS MiF, INSEAD MFin (both need more experience).
[*]Consider as smart additions: ESSEC/ESCP/Bocconi/UCL/Warwick

Hope that helps. Please submit your profile for a Free Assessment over a 1:1 call. https://theivyleagueedge.com/index.php/contactus/
