Hello,
I am a 21 year old student who has completed undergrad . I am in a dilemma wether to consider MIM or Deferred MBA. From job prospects which is better? Salary wise, career wise. Deferred MBA is hard to get into, i am afraid that i don’t have the required profile, for eg. any head positions in college or in any clubs, I haven’t started anything of my own either. But i did alot of online courses. I did social work, I did a full time internship with a well known company and that’s pretty much it. I was diagnosed with a learning disability and a mental illness , but unfortunately did not get a certificate due to Covid and after that I thought that i do not require that stamp on my head. My GPA is like 3.0. I know things are so complicated. I was preparing for entrance exam for masters in a completely different field just to realise its not meant for me. Also if we talk about the tution, which is 140k , it is expensive, but manageable. I’d be done with MBA and get a job by 24 and just one year less with MIM. My other friends got admitted to Deferred MBA IV league B-schools and i feel left out. I don’t know which one to choose. I am new to all this. Please help.

Hello Kabirk,
First things first - do not worry. You're young and have plenty of time at hand.
Just wondering why you aren't taking up a job and looking for an MBA a few years down the line. That would help you work on your overall profile and provide you with a better chance of making it to your target schools.
While a MBA after a few years is definitely recommended, if you wish to apply immediately, you could look at MiM programs. Not sure of your GMAT score but the choice of schools would depend on the same.

Top schools all over the world offer customized programs to suit different students’ needs. These include the MBA and several smaller programs like the Master in Management. These programs are similar, but are structured very differently in order to provide professionals of different backgrounds with the education they need to advance their careers.
MBAs are the more traditional option. Generally spread over two years, they are built for professionals with minimal managerial experience. They take a more thorough and academic approach to the basics of business management, providing students with a solid foundation as they launch their careers.
A Masters in Management is an alternative to an MBA for those who lack working experience, as applicants for MBA programs are required to have at least 3 years working experience or more in order to be considered for admission. Traditionally, an MBA is the more common and the better recognized diploma out of these two, but MiMs are becoming more popular, among applicants and employers alike. The structure of the typical MiM program is very similar to that of a typical MBA program and provides students with a general knowledge in management, making it easier and faster for graduates of the programs to find a management job right after graduation.
