Sloan acceptance rate was around 13.6% last year. considering <50 people enroll and assuming 60 are accepted, ~441 people apply to the program..

I feel validated with my original guess of ~500 applicants! :p

That seems so low to me, but it makes sense doing the math. I thought the acceptance rate was closer to 9%. But that makes me feel better it's a little higher.

From what I got during the ambassador lunch with jolene monson, the acceptance rate is between that of SoE and Sloan. Cz applications to sloan are from diverse fields and LGO attracts applicants closer to the STEM backgrounds. Hence even though acceptance rates are higher than sloans, the program is still considered the hardest to get into at Sloan or SOE due to the elite set of applicants it attracts.

looks like my optional YouTube only got one hit thus far, which was a week ago. Is that a bad sign considering that there should at least be two people who goes over each application?? :(

ok correction. For future reference, it appears that Youtube's analytics is delayed by a few days (and maybe up to a week). I.e. Don't trust the view count/history until its been at least a week.
After checking in detail, it looks like I actually have 3 hits overall (Dec 2, 17, and 27). Also a couple "private" Linkedin profile views recently... (maybe its MIT but could also be random people).

Why are people attempting to correlate views on YouTube, LinkedIn and/or private sites with favorable odds of receiving an invitation to interview?

I think it's best to wait to worry if you don't hear anything until January 10th. The adcom is just looking at applications right now.

It's a hard wait though. So, I understand the concern.

Good luck to you all! I hope we all get to have a chance to do an interview on campus!

To be honest, I am having butterflies in my stomach right now.

See you guys on the other side (hopefully).

Am I missing something? LGO site says Jan 10.

LGO Interviews: selected candidates will be invited to the MIT campus for an interview. We hope to send out initial interview invitations by January 10, although you could receive an interview request later than that. Applicants are strongly encouraged to interview in person at MIT, but other solutions will be available if necessary (especially for international candidates).

Rumor has it that they will start sending out invitations today/tomorrow.

Fantastic, really glad to not have to wait another week. Man, they work hard to turn those around so fast, and during the holidays!

Where does that rumor stem from?

I know that last year invitations were sent out beginning on Jan 8, so the end of the first week of Jan seems reasonable

Well, last year invites were sent out Jan 8th but the date they had mentioned on the website to have sent them by was also Jan 8. No one mentioned getting an invite prior to that. Although many received their decisions prior to the deadline mentioned (1 March '16), upon receiving calls from their interviewers.

I did, thought it was fantastic. The professor who gave a talk, the alumni who came to discuss their careers, and the reception/dinners afterwards were all super helpful. After going, realized I couldn't think of a better program.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous.

Even though I know that invites likely sent until around the 10th, I will be obsessively checking my email for the next week.

Fingers crossed! My long-distance partner has a post-doc offer from MIT, so it would be really awesome if he and I could finally end up in the same place.

Have interview invites ever been extended via phone or are they always sent via email?
