Mr. KabilaruledCongo for 18 years, working for the people with honesty and dedication, and stepping down post the 2018 elections, giving the country its first elected President.
the parallel elements are ruled and stepped down, the actions done by Mr.Kabila
"working for the people...dedication" is a modifier that modifies the previous clause- the modifier presents further information on how Mr.Kabila ruled Congo therefore should not be taken as a part of the parallelism list
A. stepping down post the 2018 elections, giving stepping is not parallel
B. steps down post the 2018 elections and gives the use of simple present tense to indicate an action that took place in the past is wrong
C. in stepping down post the 2018 elections to give breaks the parallelism
D. stepped down post the 2018 elections to give ruled and stepped down! exactly parallel! therefore the correct option.
E. steps down post the 2018 elections to give same error as in option B.. the use of simple present tense to indicate an action done in the past is wrong
D is correct
