MBADecoder , the switch to finance wasnt spontaneous, I've been investing in the stock market the past 4 years and have realised that this is what I want to do. Convincing my parents to pay 10s of thousands of dollars wasn't easy and I'm pretty committed to this field. Thanks for the reply :)

PersonalMBACoach I do have a year and I got a job in Accenture but I'm really not interested in the work, I'm gonna use this year to focus on improving my profile. I'm currently taking courses certified by the national stock exchange of India , Im working on a research paper under the guidance of an MBA professor and I'm looking hard for internships. I'm hoping that this would be enough to get me a spot in HEC, MIT or any of the other top colleges. Thanks for the reply Scott :)

And about my performance , I have a 73% in my bachelors of engineering course. I'm not sure what that translates to on a 4.0 GPA, but its a 'first class with distinction' here.

Thanks for the additional context. That is very helpful. Have you already turned down Accenture? What group was the offer in? Given the info you provided and the fact that you do have some experience, I think you would have a decent profile to apply to to these programs. That said, if you joined Accenture (or got other similarly impressive internships) you would improve your profile. You may not want to hear this, but Accenture will help your profile.

Send me a note if you wish to discuss further. Good luck!

Best,
Scott

Hey Scott, thanks for the input :) , ive found a few internships which involve work related to finance, the only issue is that most of them are " work from home " jobs. I wanted to know whether these work from home internships are valued by universities, and if they would add value to my profile.

It really depends on the company and job. Working remotely doesn't necessarily mean it is a bad job, rather it would depend on the role.

The roles involve equity research and market analysis, all stuff along the lines of what im looking to do.

These are some of the internships, it has what information you want. I would greatly appreciate it if you could look through atleast one of these and let me know, thank you.

These are all somewhat different, so they would have different impacts on your profile. None of them jump out as something that would rival an Accenture full-time job so I recommend looking further before settling. Good luck!

Hi

Can anyone please evaluate my profile. I am very interested in doing MS, or MBA, in finance from some good asian university. Also, can you please suggest me some schools?

My GMAT score is 640 (Q50, V26, IR6). I have also taken GMAT last year. My score was: 620 (Q49, V26, IR:5). I am in no mood in taking another GMAT :p . Got some other engagements as well.
