Thanks a lot for the help SizeTrader.

You mentioned that you know few universities where MSFE and computational finance program are very good, so can you list down those universities as well? After your argument I feel that it's better if I apply for these programs and earlier also I was more interested in Quant extensive MFin programs.

I got a 2015 rankings for MFE programs: https://www.thefinancialengineer.net/rankings/

Kindly suggest me universities which are really good and there are good chances of placements as well.

Check out the Quantnet rankings. They are good and pretty accurate. What you linked to is spam.

Good stats and a good friend of mine is from Nepal. What are your career goals? Where do you want to work post grad? In what function? These questions can help me recommend some schools for you.

I am interested in stock trading and asset management. I am willing to start from the entry level for managing assets. Ultimately, I see myself establishing my own firm.

Check out Claremont. Your scores are good enough and the program is top notch. They are also very generous with scholarships. Ummm, Nova might be a good option. Their tuition is lower than most schools and they offer a fellowship. They'd like your profile a lot. Johns Hopkins and Santa Clara would love you and I believe they are generous with scholarships also. All of the schools are in good locations and will provide job opportunities.

Hi
I'm an undergraduate student pursuing Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women; it's ranked among top 3 institutes for humanities in India.
Class X: 10 CGPA
Class XII: 92%
Undergrad Aggregate till 4th sem: 72% (top 20 percentile of the dept.)
I've been a scholar in my school. I've pursued extra curricular activities till college in Dance, painting etc. Spanish basic level. Done social work for a year for child development programme under National Service Scheme. I've also pursued a course on equity research and another on investment analysis under National Stock Exchange of India. I've no work experience. I've also had two international experiences: LSE Summer School and Jenesys(Indo-Japan Cultural Exchange) .
I've held a lot of positions of responsibility as well.
Kindly suggest schools in USA. I'll graduate in 2015 and am looking for
2015 entry. I've checked JHU. Suggest whether Boston College Carroll is good and Olin Business School? I'll be reappearing for gmat because my first score is low: 560.
And I want to know job prospects as well.

Stats look good so far. Would have to see your GRE/GMAT scores to really give good guidance. JHU is going to be slightly easier to get into than say BC or WUSTL. Keep that in mind. Also, decide what you want to do post graduation and where you'd like to work. Very important questions that can quickly narrow down a school choice.

Hi Anthony,
Thank you for your inputs on this forum. They are very helpful.

With my background (given below). Could you please suggest top 5 schools for MSF in terms of placements for international students. I'm not looking at computational finance / engineering offered by most institutes, but would like to specialise in risk management with added focus on computational and mathematical tools.
In one of your posts I read that most Msfs don't accept MBA s also the likes of BC, vanderbuit seems to accept mostly freshers, going by their class profile.
Background :
1) nearly 4 years experience in equity research
2) CFA L2
3) GRE: verbal 161, quant 165
4) decent recos from my previous managers and directors
5) MBA from decent institute in India
6) Gpa 5.47/8 in grad, UG Gpa 3.3

I've already applied to MIT, HEC, LBS... Looking for couple of schools in states

Take a look at UConn's MS in Risk Management. I'd also recommend Baruch's Exec MSF, U Rochester NYC MSF. I recommend those programs because of their proximity to Manhattan, they will be ok with someone with an MBA and I think they give you a solid brand if your goal is finance in NYC.

I am pretty sure Rutgers has an MSF. I'd look at that. Umm, Bentley, Brandeis, etc. Try and find something close to NYC or another major hub. Look for programs that are customizable so you can tailor your education to your desires. You already have an MSF so try and avoid programs full of junior people.
