Hi,
I was hoping I could get an outsider's perspective on where I stand as an applicant. Quite frankly, I'm not entirely sure what range of schools I should apply to and would love an opinion on what the best schools I could reasonably get into are.
At matriculation:
26 y/o white, American male
51 months work experience
GMAT 1: 700 (44Q/41V)
GMAT 2: About to take, aiming to bring my Quant score up
GPA: 3.74, Finance degree from a good but not great, private university in CA (USN Top 100)
Work Experience:
3 year management finance rotation program at a Fortune 500 energy company (not one of the big ones, definitely lesser known). Rotation 1: Risk Management, Rotation 2: FP&A, Rotation 3: M&A
1 year working for Booz Allen Hamilton as a financial consultant for federal clients
I have also been a Military Intelligence Officer in the Army Reserves since graduation. Training one weekend every month, I oversee a staff of four soldiers focusing on international affairs and such. Upon becoming an Officer, I ranked in the top few % of my peers in my commissioning class. I have also graduated with honors from every training school I have attended and had a research paper in my field published.
My issues are my low GMAT and Quant scores as well as not knowing how much, if any weight, being in the Reserves will carry. My goal after MBA is to work for a top-tier strategy consulting firm (MBB) in the private, not public, sector.
Thank you!
